Sigurd Ring\Hring
Sigurd was the great-grandson of Ivar Vidfadmi. He is quite legendary just like
his great-grandfather. During his time his Uncle, Harald Hildetonnor Wartooth,
was ruling a large part of Denmark. Harald was very old and his empire was also ruled
by sub-kings which were then under Haralds rule. Sigurd may have been one of these
sub-kings. Sometimes these sub-kings would challenge Harald's authority, but none
of them ever beat Harald. Finally one of them did. It was Sigurd. Harald's people were
sick of his old age and cruelty, and wanted him gone. Harald preferred to die in battle.
So he challenged Sigurd. The battle was known as, the battle of Brevellir. Harald and
Sigurd got together the biggest army they could manage. In Gwyn Jones book it says, "The waters between
Zealand and Skane were so packed with Harald's fleet that a man could cross dryfoot."
Total carnage broke out, but in the end Harald was dead. Sigurd's son is the famous Ragnar Lodbrock.
