Ivar Vidfadmi
All that I know of him came from the book A History of the Vikings, by Gwyn Jones.
He wasn't even a viking, but his descendants are very famous vikings. He was a
legendary king in Skane, and more extensively a king in Sweden. His name means
Far-reacher or Wide-grasper. During his time a man named King Ingjald the Wicked, of
the Yngling line, was ruling over the Swedes at Uppsala. He was widening his territory by killing other
kings. He was confronted by Ivar and afterwards took all his people and went to his
hall. When everyone was drunk, he torched it, killing all of them. This cost the
Yngling their realm at Uppsala, and all the later Kings of Sweden and Denmark were
descendants of Ivar. He was now the ruler of Denmark, Sweden, and parts of Germany and
Austikki. He supposedly drowned on the way to Russia.
