Task Force 72 (TF72) 2001 Regatta
Wentworth Falls
Shane & Lorna Jenkins
It was a dark and rainy day when Lorna & I went up to TF72's annual regatta at Wentworth Falls earleir this month (March 2001) to see what it was all about. We came away impressed by both the TF72 members and the models there. It was great to see the member's families involved, especially young modellers out there building and having a go. We got persuaded to stay on and have dinner with them and had a great time with a great bunch.
The regatta involved a Sailpast with the Club's Patron, Rear Admiral Peter Sinclair (ex-Governor of NSW), reviewing the fleet and also presenting prizes later on in the day, after judging of the models by TF 72 members. The Sailpast was accompanied by a very good commentary on both the vessel itself and the modelmaker, a great idea which worked well.
We'd especially like to thank the following committee
members for making us welcome - Russell French (Club President), Michael Brown
(Club Treasurer and SMMLie) as well as all the other people who were most
helpful in explaining the intricacies of 1/72 RC modelling, particularly Alan
Pew.
If you are into RC models, we can both recommend membership in Task
Force 72 - they are a fun crowd with a remarkable amount of knowledge both
on RC and ship modelling in general.
Now I'll introduce Russell French - President Task Force 72 for his
view on the day.
Over the following two pages, we'll be presenting pictures taken on
the day, we hope you enjoy them.
