He wanted to earn a few extra dollars so he hit on the idea of making and selling one-of-a-kind magazine racks for bathrooms. He had a lot of scrap lumber and pieces of plywood and paneling, a foot or two in size. So he thought, heck, When I sit on the throne, I always read a book or magazine, for that is my one time of day which is mine and mine alone.
First off, he went out to his workshop and checked all the cans of paint, liquid and spray cans. Then he went over to his mom and dads and got 47 spray cans and 24 buckets of varied paint. Next he went to gramps house and there he found 124 containers, plus a big cache of wood. What you using it for sonny, gramps asked?
Need some money, grand pa. Going to make magazine racks for the bathroom."
And grandpas eyes lit up.
Can I help, huh, can I help, I have a good workshop and between the two of us we could have a lot of fun. Gramps was all excited and grandma thought it great for it would get him out of the house and doing something.

First he sketched a small nude, the five and dime variety, and gramps quickly cut it out of a piece of paneling. Then they made a small rack. And next it was a grumpy looking fat lady, and then a fat old man. They cut out pictures from some old magazines, then clear finished them, and by the end of the day they had 47 different ones made.
Sonny, I know Jim Money over at the mall, let me call him and see if we could set up a small table this weekend. Grandpa headed for the phone.
Friday morning with one table borrowed from Mrs. Lender down the street, and Grandpas old pickup full they headed for the mall. How much you selling them for, grandpa asked?
Three dollars? came the reply.
Heavens no, ask $15 bucks and under it, write, Grandpa haggles, grandpa said, Lets really have some fun, ask a lot and we wont go below $7.50 OK?
The grandson grinned, because he was not that good at talking and working with people. OK grandpa if you say so, And then he bought a piece of poster board and made a sign as they had agreed.
By four Oclock they had sold all but five, and had orders for 23 more, and the grandson enjoying it. Shucks sonny, you are really learning to talk with people and as long as you are friendly and seem interested folks will jaw and buy, and they too will enjoy.
Monday afternoon sonny came to grandpa with a tote sheet, Grandpa here is your part, a quarter for me and three quarters for you,
Huh, Grandpa said.
Well, it was your material, your shop and mostly your work, if it is not fair, then is ten percent too much? Sonny asked.
No, sonny I dont want anything, but I will take a quarter and you three quarters and lets start rummaging and get the orders filled and maybe you will come up with a new idea.
