All classes are currently taught by Mario Nugara, President and Artistic Director of the City of Angels Ballet. He received his formal training at the School of American Ballet in New York. Mr. Nugara is a Fulbright Scholar who studied dance at the Royal Danish Ballet. He holds a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. During his own career as a dancer, he performed with the New York City Ballet and the Boston Ballet.
In a segment on the City of Angels Ballet, CBS Sunday Morning described Mr. Nugara as "a nurturer of dreams". It is his artistic vision, his unusual sensitivity to the developing needs of young dancers, and his commitment to providing all talented children with the highest level of professional ballet training that drives the City of Angels Ballet.
In addition to the support provided by the Board of Directors, the parents of students have formed a Ballet Guild, which has assisted in both fund-raising and operational areas. For the most part, all support, including much of Mr. Nugara's time, is on a voluntary basis as the level of financial support grows.
