Carrots and Peanut Butter
carrots and peanut butter
and memories and music
and me and myself and I sneaks in later
I will sit here
and write your dark poetry
and my wind tunnels
I will assume the identity of the anti christ tonight
and feast on
carrots and peanut butter
with holy water from the grocery store
with no additives or floaties
I will sway to the music in my mind
stripping for jesus and god, and mary sneaks in later
dining at a booth for one
tonight we are serving
carrots and peanut butter
and bible mashed potatoes
my silver ring around your neck
you always did say I looked better on you
we color our placemats
we play with our food
dipping our
carrots and peanut butter
into philosophy and kid stuff
there are no apologies
for
nothing is wrong
salad forks are for chocolate pie
pass me the ethics to go on my morals
Now, not Please
eye contact is futile with these masks we wear
yours with frilly lace and money glued for eyes
times passes with the molded gravy
and I sit here with my memories and music
and miss those
quiet dinners.
