PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES



  1. Fine Arts Experience as a Quarterly Chairperson of an Exhibition Committee. As a member of Arts Iowa City/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, presided over the August, September, and October meetings in 1997 and facilitated discussion concerning the following subjects: production of the prospectus for the 1998-1999 exhibition season; the suitability of a music store for the exhibition of several artistic works sponsored by ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery; administrating artists' forums; the coordination of ad hoc committees; the subject of the manner of displaying prices for works of art that are themselves on display in the Center and Gallery; a purchase program with the above music store; gallery scheduling changes.

  2. Fine Arts Jurying Experience. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, juried exhibition proposals submitted in response to the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery Exhibition Prospectus for the 1998-1999 exhibition season, March 4, March 11, 1998.

  3. Fine Arts Jurying Experience. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, juried exhibition proposals submitted in response to the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery Exhibition Prospectus for the 1997-1998 exhibition season, March 12, March 19, 1997.

  4. Fine Arts Experience as a Coordinator of a Public-Speaking Engagement for Exhibiting Artists. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, assisted 3 exhibiting artists, including a painter, a printmaker, and a ceramist by organizing a group public-speaking engagement named ARTS ANGLES for these artists at ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery, 129 E. Washington St., Iowa City IA 52240; (319) 337-7447; March 13, 1997.

  5. Fine Arts Experience as a Gallery Advisor/Curator. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, assisted 3 exhibiting artists in March 1997, including a painter, a printmaker, and a ceramist by mailing out to those artists check lists of things-to-do, such as submitting a price list, an insurance list, black-and-white photographs, a curriculum vitae, a biography, an artist's statement, and information for gallery labels, and by assisting these artists to arrange their exhibits and to take down their exhibits, ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery, 129 E.   6. Fine Arts Experience as a Chairperson of an Exhibition Committee. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, presided over the June 1996 meeting and facilitated discussion concerning the following subjects: a finalization of the 1996-1997 exhibition season; the suitability of a local coffeehouse for the exhibition of several artistic works sponsored by ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery.

  7. Fine Arts Experience as a Gallery Advisor/Curator. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery's Exhibition Committee, assisted 4 exhibiting artists in May 1996, including two mixed-media artists, an installation artist, and a draftswoman by mailing out to these artists check lists of things-to-do, such as submitting a price list, an insurance list, black-and-white photographs, a curriculum vitae, a biography, an artist's statement, and information for gallery labels, and by assisting these artists to arrange their exhibits and to take down their exhibits, ARTS IOWA CITY/Center and Gallery, 129 E.   9. Fine Arts Fund-raising Experience. As a member of the ARTS IOWA CITY organization, met with members of other Iowa City area arts organizations in order to plan an event that is not only a statewide fund-raising event, but also an arts awareness campaign: a walking tour named: "the Search for Signs of Support for the Arts in Iowa," April 18, 1995.

  10. Fine Arts Experience in Desktop Publishing. Using microcomputers with graphics capability, redesigned an educational fine arts newsletter for volunteers who teach youth in the Four-H Club, a youth organization sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and offering instruction in agriculture and home economics in 1989 and 1990, putting the newsletter format into a microcomputer software program utilizing Microsoft Word brand word processing program and a Pagemaker brand Desk Top publishing program for Professor Susan Farmer, Four-H Club and Youth Visual Arts Specialist, the UW-Madison, Continuing Education in the Arts, 726 Lowell Hall, 610 Langdon Street, Madison WI 53703.

  11. Fine Arts Experience as Coordinator of Arts Programs. Coordinated various programs for youth, educators, and the general public under the direction of Associate Professor Susan Farmer, Four-H Club and Youth Visual Arts Specialist, UW-Madison, Continuing Education in the Arts, 726 Lowell Hall, 610 Langdon Street, Madison WI 53703, 1989 and 1990.
