The Choice

Last night saw revelation,
Last night she made her choice.
It ended anticipation,
And I lost the fire in my voice.

My words to her were short, but
I held on, as she slowly replied.
And as I kept my mouth shut,
My hopes again were denied.

Was I to be forsaken,
To be put out of place?
Her words were not well taken,
Yet I tried to keep a straight face.

That moment on I lost my thoughts.
My heart sank, composure lacked.
My mind and soul was distraught,
But I learned to accept the facts.

Her thoughts are no longer with me,
Her blood no longer in my vains.
In my dreams I don't see.
But her memory remains.
