Mr. Bonnell:

I have been following your situation in the newspapers. As a retired public
school educator (with an English minor) I can tell you that I always felt
that conducting myself in personally -- and morally-- responsible manner was
a big part of being a good teacher. I am proud to say that I did so for 30
years.

Having spent 7 years in college while earning three degrees, it was my
impression that many college instructors are a bit strange - and, yes, even
somewhat "kinky."  My two daughters recently graduated from college and
survived it. Your notion that you must have your students read questionable
novels and then listen to you discuss them in sexually abrupt terms
reinforces this belief. If either of my girls had had you for a class, you
and I would have met face-to-face early on, Mr. Bonnell. Your attitude and
behavior is disgraceful. Allow yourself some semblance of dignity by
resigning and gracefully(?) fading into the sunset. I have notified Macomb
Community College of my support for their position pertaining to your
suspension.

Sincerely,
