Parents/Teachers of Lewis & Clark Minutes - Novemeber 2000

Attendance:
Sally Constantin, Matthew & Casandra Hylton, Anne Collson, Jerry Meadows, Katrina Clift, Colleen Menze, Shannon & Charles Row, Melissa Lungberg, Gail Martyn, Michelle & Stefen Pearson
The minutes from the previous meeting will be available and open for discussion at the beginning of each meeting.
Only one guardian per school is necessary, therefore Melissa Lungberg has stepped down. Venetia Fields will represent Lewis Primary and Dana Woodbury will represent Clark Intermediate.

Treasury Report:
- Total funds available, 11,269.70 (see Gail Martyn)

Old Business:
- Swim lessonsdue to an increase in the number of students and a rate increase from the pool, swim lessons will cost $1,000 more than expected. Therefore, parents will be charged approximately $4 per child to cover the extra cost.
- Masterpiece cookie dough pick up is on Nov. 21st. 182 students participated, with a $6,176 profit. This is more than a 40% increase from last year.
- Playground update the par course lumber is being placed at stations and will be filled with bark chips soon. Two more, much needed, bike racks have been ordered for the Clark end of the school.
- Music instruments the gong has been received and is used with enthusiasm in Mr. Beisley's class. Still waiting for the cymbals.
- Loud and Clear ends Thursday Nov. 16th. The instructor will attend next month's PTLC meeting to let us know how things turned out.
- Spirit week went very well. The winners for spirit week participation are as follows:

*IDEA-maybe have one Friday per month designated as spirit day to show pride in our school!!??
- H.E.L.P thank you letter was read regarding the canned food drive. All food donated during spirit week has has been distributed. We had 600 items donated. We are looking to place a food barrel outside both Lewis and Clark hallways for easy drop off. A flyer will be put out to explain donations.
- T-Shirt committee will meet again and report at December's PTLC meeting.
- Laminator service has been quoted at $200 for maintenance. If the problem is the heat sensor, that cost will be an additional $50.52. motion to service laminator up to $300, voted and approved.

New Business:
- Tammy Schlumpberger has requested money to purchase good behavior incentives on the playground. More clarification is needed before money is to be allocated for this request.
- Sacagawea Health Center has asked for a donation of $125 to purchase a picture to be hung in the center. Voted and denied. District program.
- Flower boxes located outside the windows of Lewis primary were placed there for safety reasons, and remain empty. It has been requested to purchase year-round shrubs and bulbs to be planted by the students/staff. Rocks to fill the base have been donated. Motion to spend up to $300 on soil/flowers/shrubs. Voted and approved.
- Accu cut We will spend our $200 gift certificate on a �Children Playing� border..
- Popcorn supplies We are out of oil for the popcorn machine. Motion to spend $50 for popcorn and oil supplies. Voted and approved
- Assembly programs Lewis and Clark campus would like to bring the students together and offer assemblies for the students. Due to the size of the campus it would be essential to offer two separate programs, one for each school. Motion to provide 2 assemblies per school for the 2000/2001 school year, voted and approved. $2000 has been allocated for these assemblies. Any money left over will carry into the following school year.
- A Thank-You letter was read from the media center regarding the fall book fair proceeds, $797.19, that went to the media-center.

- Dr. Suess's birthday is March 2nd. We will have an author come and talk to both school in recognition of this day. Volunteers needed to help plan activities. Contact the media center.
- Concerns about the cross walk between 12th and Eisenschmidt lane is being looked into. Mr. Meadows will talk with the city/police about who is able to cross the children. Volunteers may be needed.
