Parents/Teachers of Lewis & Clark Minutes - March 2002

Maredy Fund raiser:Volunteers still needed for Wed. March 20th between 5:30 & 6:30 pm.

Par-Course: The wood borders and chips have been installed. It took about 10 volunteers and 2 � hours of labor on Sat. 3/2. Thank you to all that donated time and energy.
Movie Tickets: On sale every Friday during cookie-sale for $6.00 through PTLC until March 22nd, and then will be available at Columbia Theater. This year includes 10 movies PLUS one adult ticket to see a Tuesday evening performance at the theater.
Nominations: Open April 9th through May 7th. A nomination form will be attached to the April minutes.

Playground Equipment Options: Last month we set a goal to raise $10,000 by July 2003.With Maredy fund raiser being such a success, we have a balance of $9841.88 and are ready to start the second phase of the Clark playground. Two options were presented:
1. Playcraft (add-on to the existing structure. Cost = $11,178.00)
2. Recreation Creation (4 separate structures throughout the playground. Includes: Climber, 4-seat heavy-duty swing set, fitness ladder, and sky track. Cost = $7,935.20)
Motion to begin installment of #2 Recreation Creation. Voted and approved.
Motion to spend $1,500 for installment of an additional play structure at Lewis end of school. Voted and approved.

Cross Talks:

Music: Motion to approve request to spend $87.75 for 5 pairs of mallets for the music instruments. Voted and approved.
Duty Aids: Motion to approve request to spend $30 for a pole to retrieve balls from the rafter of the play sheds. Voted and approved.
Lewis Study Group: 1st grade teachers request $280.08 for Picture File Language Activity Cards, to increase vocabulary development in their students. Motion made to approve request, voted and approved.

Safe Kids Day: Saturday May 11th. Volunteers needed to operate popcorn machine.
Coordinator Update:
- Box Top: 912 collected and will be sent in March.
- Otis Spunkmeyer: Profit $1,925.
- Movie Tickets: Profit $448.00 on current sale.
- Campbells Labels: Balance 17,866 Points to spend in catalog, with many labelsstill to be counted. Purchased 6 - 8 � inch nylon kickballs for the playground (total cost 2,250 points).
- Red Apple Receipts: TBA.
**THANKS from Mrs. Clift to Michelle Pearson and Tracey Eisenman for all their hard work to create the large cake displaying all the childrens favorite books in celebration of Dr. Suess' birthday.
**PTLC computer extremely inadequate. Stefen Pearson has an opportunity to purchase a 400 MHZ Pentium II computer for $200.00 along with a program license for $45.00. Motion to upgrade and spend $245 on new computer, voted and approved.
