John Gumm/PTC MINUTES - June 2000

Attendance:

Treasury Report:

Monthly Reports:
- Cambbell's Soup Lables:
- Reports to be made beginning of school year 2000/01
- Otis Spunkmeier Cookie Sales:
- Total for 99/2000 school year = $2,411.00

Old Business:
- Kids Night Out: Very successful. 270 kids attended. Lewis and Clark will host two KNO for school year 2000/01, tentatively May 19th and April 21st, from 5:30 till 10pm.
- Name Change:
A motion was made to change the name of Condon's PTC to Parents and Teachers of Lewis and Clark (PTLC), voted, and approved to begin new fiscal year July 1st 2000.

New Business:
- 6th Grade Promotion: PTLC will donate $45.89 for cookies/punch. Voted and approved.
- Service of Laminator: John Gumm has a 1-year old laminator. Not sure if there is room to keep both machines in the new school. We will store ours until the opening and decide whether to have the older one serviced at that time.
- Lewis and Clark shirts will be discussed at the Sept. meeting.
- www.shopforschools.com: every time you shop online through shopforschool.com a percentage of each purchase will be donated back to the school of your choice. There are about 100 merchants, ranging from Disney store to Amazon.com. Check it out and register.
- Loud and Clear/Oregon Children's Theater: Training seminar for teachers (K-5) to meet the benchmark's for their 3rd and 5th graders. Classrooms are taught how to give a speech. There are three levels of training. $2,5000 voted and approved to spend on these workshops. www.octc.org
- PTLC by-laws: volunteers are set to re-write by-laws during the summer 2000.
- 6th grade Library books: Voted and approved to donate $1000 to the Jr. High School. A media specialist
will purchase age appropriate books for the new incoming 6th graders.
- New fundraising information: a new city ordinance will state that for each fundraising event, a permit will
be required. More information and details to come.
- Calendar of Events 2000-2001:
- Spirit Week: Show pride in the new school. Motion to hold spirit week Sept. 18th thru 22nd. $200 ($100 for each school) for prizes. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place will go to the classrooms who show the most spirit.
Voted and approved.
- Kids Night Out: Lewis/May 19th and Clark/April 21st 2001
- Holiday Activity: Gift Calendar. Start the first week in Oct. and should be done by the 1st part of Dec. PTLC will prepare buckets of art supplies according to grade level. This activity can incorporate math/art/language arts, as well as current lessons, to make it educational as well as entertaining and a treasured keepsake for family members.
- Request up to $500 for calendar art materials. Voted and approved.
- Side note-the school district may pay for printing with �credit chits�. More info to follow.

Next meeting will be September 12, 2000. Please come and join us. This will be our first meeting of the 2000/2001 school year.
