Our Ministries

At Painted Sky Christian Ministries, we are working to build ministries that tear down barriers of prejudice with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Church of the Painted Sky, Lumberton .

Church of the Painted Sky, Lumberton is the founding church of our ministry. It is focused on the Sandhills region of North Carolina, particularly Lumberton NC and surrounding areas. This is a church unlike any other – one that views each person as a gift and that does not allow boundaries like race, sexuality, disability, gender, and economic status to stand in the way of welcoming people into God's family. Its mission is to “help people discover their place in the family of God" and to proclaim that, in Christ, there is no prejudice or discrimination.

Since we feel "being the Body of Christ" means first and foremost to be a servant to others, we are beginning our ministry through targeted ministries committed to meeting specific needs in the community.

Among our current ministries in the community are:

“Christmas all year round”

Christmas all year round began as initiative to help families without the means for a Christmas for their children but continued as the church decided that Jesus' birth is worth celebrating throughout the year. This is a ministry to those who are either homeless or struggling financially. We collect canned goods, clothes, and other items that we provide to families in need in our community. Church and Community Center

In addition to our ongoing program for families in need, we also support the efforts of Lumberton's Church and Community Center. Located at 600 W. 5th St., Lumberton, and supported by churches from all denominations, the Church and Community Center provides regular programs of uplift to help families in need. More ministries to come...

As a part of our church's local vision, we plan to offer a number of ministries of uplift in our community. Our vision is to eventual sponsor a Christian ministry center providing programs supporting individuals overcoming addiction, recovering from abuse, trying to overcome homelessness and poverty, and dealing with disabilities. In the next year, we hope to launch the following ministries:

Recovery Ministries

Pastor Katharine is currently working together with our church to help sponsor to help sponsor ministries that will help individuals and their families struggling to overcome the results of alcoholism. Laura's Ark

We are hoping to get together a group of individuals who love animals to train their pets to become therapy-certified to visit nursing homes, convalescence facilities, group homes, and hospitals. Educational Ministries

We provide educational resources and do educational seminars in schools, community centers, and churches, designed to help individuals overcome prejudice that has been perpetuated in the name of faith, helping dispel myths surrounding what the Bible says about homosexuality, women's rights, transgender issues, racism, and those with disabilities, among other topics. Please contact us for more information or to arrange a seminar, presentation, retreat, or conference in your area.

We also provide educational materials for use in small group settings on these same topics. Please contact us for more information.

Ministry Training

We offer mentoring and training for those interested in beginning churches or new ministries committed to the Christian faith and to the goals of overcoming prejudice and discrimination. This is done on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more information.

Remember Jesus' call to go into all the word and proclaim God's good news to all creation, Painted Sky Christian Ministries has sponsored a number of ministries internationally that are focused on helping people of all backgrounds find their place in God's family regardless of race, sexuality, or economic situation. Ministry Services

We provide ministry services such as prayer, counseling, marriage ceremonies, funeral arrangements, without discrimination based on gender, sexuality, race, or class. If you are in need of such a service without discrimination based on who you are, please contact us.
