No Response

The Gothic/Industrial scene isn't dead; it just dresses that way. No Response is New Haven's own purveyor of synthesized throbs, filtered vocals and ominous omnipresent echo. A machine-enhanced trio of vocalist/programmer Dennis McLaughlin, guitarist Chris Nemier, and guitarist/bassist Jarrett Heine, No Response lives (dies?) up to its promise of being "melodic, danceable and heavy." The lyrics are typically unintelligible, but we'll assume they concern hate, angst
and alienation, in keeping with the genre and with titles like "Just another Lie", "Fade Away", "Anything", and "Suffocate." All the elements are in play--the swirling keyboards, the stampeding mechanical beat, the water-torture repetitions, vocals that veer from withdrawn to outwardly hostile. If it doesn't shock, ts at least a hotblooded comfort

Tapping the Vein
The first time I heard of Tapping the Vein was about 4 years ago..and they where described as a killer band with this little girl(as in size) with IRON LUNGS as their vocals...well the band is killer! And that little girl is Heather Thompson and she does have iron lungs. TTV 1st hit was "Butterfly" which only started to get played out at the clubs after 2 1/2 years...Still a great song! TTV is a definate to check out if you haven't already!Their new ep is called UNDONE...which is absolutely amazing...Its available on their website

Cosmicity
The album is called "the binary language of love". Cosmicity is Good ole fashion Synthpop with a strong PSB influence. The track...Digital Delays.. is a track that is sure to pack the dancefloor..This is definately an album to get your hands on! The beats are astonishing and the vocals are awesome!

Into Darkness

I can see a bright future for these guys. I'm positive once they have earned themselves a greater amount of exposure there will be quite the momentous demand for them. They surely have the proper attitude to make their presence known in the alternative domain, not to mention the appreciable amount of innovation necessary to bring people about to redefine the title's meaning. This New Jersey band's self-promoted CD proclaims a volatile temperament, hinting at an unspoken yet ardent frenzy plainly visible beneath the outer rim. The Day the Birth Stood Still freely advances in setting new standards in their vocation, exploring on fresher modernistic terms manifold euphonious paths. Into Darkness manage to join the heavier position of alternative, sturdy Black Sabbath edged post thrash and caliginous gothic music in an acutely unique and personal fashion. The passionate tumult put forth by Into Darkness has profuse tangible essence which is remarkable for a CD comprised of only three songs. "Move" lunges with the impact of Pantera's angriest material, gliding into a section replete with intense crunching from guitarists St. James and Burn tinted by keyboards with a hypnotic Egyptian feel. "The Burden of Being You" shifts between the band's inherent heaviness and an atmospheric pattern cognate to classic David Bowie. "Ten Minutes" reiterates the avant-garde fringe of Into Darkness' songwriting, containing more atmospheric passages. During all this the mood fluctuates in such a convincing manner as to entrap you into each sonic tapestry, especially through Rev's vocals. I'm anticipating my discovery of how Into Darkness will sound when their full-length comes out.

One Step Beyond

Unfortunately we did not see lot of this band at the club we went to...The band that was before them where only supposed to do a 20 minute set and took 45 minutes along with there long set up. But considering all This band was definately the best of the night . Led by vocalist Susan, who voice totally tranced me. And caught everyones attention immediately. Bassist Urith is the best bassist i have seen since(Bill of Sky blue vampires), and the boys in the band where not far behind the ladies. This hard rock/metal band is definatley worth checking out...www.osbmusic.com
