The countdown is on…
We’re
now just about a month away from our 25th reunion, and we hope
you and your family will be able to join us at some point during the
weekend. It’s been great to
reconnect with many of you over the past few months, and we are all
looking forward to a great time on July 30th and 31st.
Just a
couple of items to mention in this issue…
Reunion
Registration – we noticed a problem with our registration page
After a
few of you mentioned that you were having some problems with the online
form, Randy was able to investigate and determine that there was a
routing error with completed registrations. For those of you that we haven't heard
from yet, click on the link below to let us know what you're planning on
attending. http://www.geocities.com/Onteora79/RegistrationMain.html

Saturday Picnic - some important information
The
Saturday Picnic at Davis Park is a "bring your own"
event. Please make sure you bring your own food and beverages, and
since we're hoping for a hot day...plenty of water for the kids.
There
is a pool at the park, and there is a $2 per person charge (applicable to
both adults and children). There will be a lifeguard on duty, and
someone from the park will be collecting money.
Volunteers needed for the picnic on Saturday
We
need a few volunteers to help out at the picnic on Saturday to
clean up and make sure we leave the park in the same condition as when we
arrived. If you would like to help out please send a note to Anita
at [email protected] and let her know that you'd like
to pitch in.
Forgotten your way around the area?
That's
okay, it happens to all of us. A new addition to our website is a
map and driving directions for all of the venues. Click on this
link to go right to the map: http://www.geocities.com/Onteora79/Directions.html

Flashback
25
years ago – June 24, 1979
– Onteora Central School
Graduates the Class of 1979
In
a ceremony filled with much pomp and circumstance, over 260 members of
the Onteora Central School Class of 1979
received graduation diplomas in a Sunday evening ceremony. This event marked, for many, the
beginning of a journey into adulthood.
As was to be expected there were the usual promises of staying in
touch forever and never forgetting each other. Tears of joy for the journey ahead
accompanied these sentiments, as well as the sorrow of saying goodbye to
so many friends.
Bet you didn't
know...
The Educational Philosophy of Onteora High School (in 1979 was) "To provide
the experiences in general education which are necessary to prepare our
students to meet life successfully. General education is that part
of a student's whole education which teaches him to be a responsive and
responsible human being and citizen. Inherent in this philosophy is
the recognition that individuals differ in their capacities to learn and
must therefore be challenged according to their abilities."
