Living a Blessed Life And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." (ESV) |
If you have specialized needs and want to get more functionality from Excel, more concentrated study is needed. Power users pick up a copy of the Excel Bible and study diligently to improve their skills and become more efficient. Higher functions and macros streamline processes and simplify workflow.
Bill Jensen says, “The paradox of simplicity is that making things simpler is hard work.” (Simplicity: The New Competitive Advantage in a World of More, Better, Faster) It takes a lot of study, thought and practice to create solutions that are simple and elegant. So it's hard work to make things simple. Our lives on earth as human beings in physical bodies are just like
that. If we want to just “get by”, most of what we do is pretty
routine. Running through habitual routines is pretty intuitive.
We may
occasionally pick up a boot camp workout
video or a diet
book when we get a little out of shape or overweight, but beyond
that, the average user of a human body may not give it much
thought.
The person who wants to become a power user in life needs something
more. They need a Human Life Operating Manual, a bible for the
human condition. I started the One Heart Leadership web site to
provide some of the tips and tricks I have learned to help other users
to achieve a fully blessed life through a deeper understanding of the
operating manual for human life, the Holy Bible
The cornerstone of this blessed life is found in the three great
blessings that God gave to Adam and Eve in the very beginning:
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply
and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the
sea and over the birds of the heavens and
over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (ESV)
There is an incredible depth of functionality concentrated in these seemingly simple words. Each week my blog will address a different aspect of living a totally blessed life.

Good
to Great is the best business book that I have ever read.
That
is saying a lot given that I'm 50 years old and have read
voraciously
since the third grade! The concepts in Good to Great are
definitely
applicable to ministry. I was so excited to discover that Jim
Collins
had written a
Monograph
for the Social Sectors (above middle) that I ordered it on the
spot.
When it arrived I read it through immediately and began to share
it
with my partners in ministry. I cannot recommend it enough.
