FORTY YEARS??



FORTY YEARS?? How can it be? I must have heard you wrong!
I thought you said "reunion", but it can't have been THAT long!
Why, I just finished high school, about five years ago,
And I know I went to college, in the past couple years or so.

FORTY YEARS?? Are you sure about this? There must be some mistake!
`Cause I turned twenty-two last year. There were candles on my cake.
Why, I just got engaged and married last year, at least I THINK I did.
But... I have noticed strangers in my house, and one of them in my bed!

FORTY YEARS?? I know it's a joke! I think you are kidding me!
For I had a baby a few months ago and I KNOW I was twenty-three!
Why, I just started my new job, a couple of weeks ago.
I'm considered the youngest one there, at twenty-four, you know!


FORTY YEARS?? Now I'm getting concerned! You're sticking to your tale?
I must be dreaming or hearing things, or my brain is starting to fail!
Why, my kids just started to go to school, I think it was last week.
But... seems I recall a commencement or two, and some wedding cake to eat.


FORTY YEARS?? Well, maybe so. But it sure doesn't seem that long,
Since I left good ol' Ouachita Parish High School. Maybe you're right and I'm wrong!
But I remember everything, like it happened just yesterday.
If your school years were great, like most of ours were, I guess it happens that way!

FORTY YEARS?? Now I KNOW you are right, for I just chanced to see,
My reflection in the mirror...Gosh, what's happened to me?
I'm a grandma now with wrinkles and sags and there's a whole lot more of Dee!
But I'm still glad I'm a Ouachita grad, from the class of '63!!
