Schools Liffey Descent

Newbridge Kayak club was represented on the ICU Schools Liffey Descent 2001 by five paddlers,

• Gary Molynaux,
• Fiona Moore,
• Declan Conboy, and
• Donal O'Farrell.

The race was held on Saturday, the 29^th of September, 2001.

All the NKC paddlers who participated completed the course and Gary Molynaux took the bronze medal for Open Singles class, followed closely by Declan Conboy.

The race started at Salmon Leap Canoe Club and paddlers had to cross Leixlip lake end endure a 400 metre portage before they hit the fast water. After Leixlip, paddlers had anbother portage at Sliuce Weir. This was followed by three weirs in quick succession, Lucan weir, Anna Liffey and Wrens Nest before the finish at Kings Hospital.
