Time: Sometime between breakfest and lunch.
Location: AmKelosh: forbbiden city of the Kelosh Empire, third floor of the main palace.
Note:

Rafe isn't around AmKelosh all that much. He's often off doing who knows what. Exactly where Rafe goes and what he does is an imperial secret and only Kayos knows for sure. It's said that's something he doesn't even share with the Amazons. Rafe steps out of his bedroom door, which happens to be the one across from Lark's. He coughs twice, though it sounds like he's trying not to. He waves a hand in front of his face as if to clear the air. "Damn it's dusty in there, doesn't anyone clean when I'm gone?" A servant was walking by and hears Rafe she pauses and with her head down in respect. She replies in a very soft voice, "You told us not to go in there again." Rafe suddenly remembers that and just blinks as the girl continues on her way. Not a bad looking girl for a slave. Rafe watches her.

Lark Sandstone's door is ajar a bit. Within the chambre she sits upon her bed. Flicking through the page sof an old book. She had taken to her singing again as she causally flipped through the book. her fingers curled under her chin, her head bowed as she leane dove rthe book. eyes darting across the pages. Her leg curled under her form, as her left leg was bent and resting against the bed. The edge of her shirt was curled about her one leg, neatly tucked in a amange that was ladylike, yet the fabric flowed across her tanned knee and revealed her shapely leg up to her thight. She wa slost in thought and singing to herself to notice anything about her.

Rafe stops watching the slave girl and looks back to what's in front of him. He notices Lark door open and his curiousity gets the better of him. He moves to the door and peeks in lightly to see what she is doing. Odd, he didn't know she could read. He pushes the door open more, which wouldn't make a sound if not for the creaking of the hinges. He pauses a second before stepping into her room and walking up to her. "Is that one of those phonic starter books? You know that teaches you how to read."

Lark Sandstone's gaze lifted slowly. At first she thought to lash out. But these days she had better control of he rtongue. "No it is not. But its got some pitcures in it, if you care to look at it, i am sure they will teach you. that is if an old og can be taught new tricks." Her gaze droppe dback to the book. She had little interest in rafe. He was rude and full of himself. she drew in a deep relaxing breath. "is there a reaon your lurking in my room. No slave girls to oogle?"

Rafe is not offended by her remarks. He lets out a little laugh. "The only good picture book is the Kuma Sutra" She's right about him being old, he's really old. "Slave girls aren't that much fun to oogle, they don't oogle back. I like prey that puts up a little struggle and plays hard to get. But then most men do. Isn't that why women always play hard to get? To please us men?" He's heard she's sexist agains men, everyone's heard that. No harm in giving her more ammunition. Well no real harm to him anyway.

Lark Sandstone gives off the air that his presence does not troubl eher as much as he would lik eto think it does. "I have never really meet a man that I wished to play hard with." she doe snot let her gaze leave the page that she was on. Her fingers delicately flip the page over, her head tilted to the side as she drew in another breath. she had at this point stoppe dher singing though. Her leg dropped and curled under her form along with the other. "So is there a reason you are here. Or you wish to enlighten me with your knowledge of a book that out dates you even."

Rafe moves around her and falls backwards on her bed, landing on his back next to her. He is laying across the bed sideways and his legs hang off a bit. He's pretty short for a guy, he's shorter than Lark at only 5'7". This movement cuases his mildly long, red hair to dance around wildly for a second before settling in a messy position. He doesn't seem to care. Rafe stares up at Lark's ceiling. He was about to comment on her statement about playing with men, when she makes her new comment about the book. A wicked smile spreads across his face and he looks over to her. "Are you coming onto me? That's kinda sick considering we're siblings."

Lark Sandstonesays,"You are in my bed, one would have to draw a conclusion on that itself. Should someone enter this room. which I might add is rather gutsy, even for you. With all the stories about me its no wonder you entered. " she paused a moment taking a brief moment to look down at where he was laying. Her left hand rose to pull back her own red locks. "coming onto you, well i will remeber to have my head examined."

Rafe does have an odd atractivness about him. Women tend to be drawn to him even when he's not their type. No doubt some magic is involved there, but Lark being Siren does not feel that urge to be drawn to him. Either that or Kayos made sure that magic didn't affect siblings. Even though Rafe and Lark don't share any common blood and don't really know each other, Kayos expects them to act like siblings. "Nonsense. It's not like I'm laying in the bed right or undressed under you covers. I'm just hanging out with you. I don't know how it is in the siren world, but on the land not everything is about sex ya know?" He's just trying to push more buttons. He too often thinks of sex first, though he realzies that's not normaly the case. "But yeah, I'v heard you're slightly crazy." He looks up again.

Lark Sandstone was indeed taking this rather well. she smiled at the fact that she was controlling her anger and her temper. Rafe had a way of pushing buttons, but in a different manner then Nick. How is thatso? her brow furrowed as she shifted in her place and droppe dher elbows to her knees and leaned forward reading the pages of the boo again. She would just take this as Rafe being, Rafe. It was true they were in some way related. Kayos had many relations it seemed. her head jetted up, "Crazy?"

Rafe can't help but laugh. His laugh sounds like that of a carefree guy with an easy going manner, however once you really get to know him, people find out Rafe has a pretty dark and broody side too. He's just really good at covering it up. He glances back over at her again. It almost does feel like their siblings right now, odd. He doubts she'll let that moment last, but he doesn't have a desire to kill her. That first time he met her he offered to kill her. "Well you would know better than anyone. But you're so erratic, you blow up on the drop of a hat. You go save Nick, but then you seem to want to kill him. . . . I've heard you even attacked Kayos once." He looks back up to the ceiling again when he's done speaking.

Lark Sandstone listening to him, her brow furrowed at his words. ~he does not hold back does he.~ Her hand moved to the edge of the book. flicking the thin sheet in between her fingers. She paused and then thought, why not ask....she was getting use to gettin the full view of what people thought of her. AS bella she was learning it in a big way from the locls. Not that Lark ever mingled with many. she looke dat Rafe. " I don't mess around, is that so bad. People act a certain way toward me, why not rect back in the same manner. " her thoughst starte dto work her over. Matt had his opinion of her when they first her when they first met. Then came nick, who still had an opionion of her no matter what she did. "Why chage what you are?" She kne wnot why she said that, drawing in another hard breath. Rafe was not helping matters. She wishe dto just move on, not try and nderstand why thoings the way they were. "what doe sit matter."

Rafe looks over at Lark again, this time his expression is almost one of pity. "Is that really what you think? You think everyone is out to get you so you try to get them first? That's a sad way to live, Sis. you need to learn to lighten up and see the good in others and in yourself. Not everyone is your enemy, that's just in your head." He rolls over to lay on his stomace, bending his legs at the knees, his feet in the air. His voice is kind, which is a little odd for him, he's had to drop the mask he hides behidn for a second or two here. "You need to learn to live. This walking around animated and fearing everyone isn't really living." Something in his tone might suggest he's been there before.

Lark Sandstone looked at him, for the first time in what felt like a very long time. she thought of her real sister. she missed the bond she had way back when. Looking at Rafe, hearing his words. She kne wnot really what to make of him. thinking upon it for a time she thought to press the matter...Trying to sound as if this really mattered, Her head tilted back, her left hand moved to arch behind her back, propping her up. "How doe sone do taht, live when that is just what they thought that they were doing?"

Rafe looks back at the ceiling and can feel that wall coming up. He too has a problem letting people in too close, showing his weaknesses. And he has many. "I think it's something you have to always be working toward. But then what do I know? I'm not alive. I died a long time ago." He is refering to himself being undead, but he did die emtionaly around that same time too. Endless torture drove him over the edge. "You should look around for someone that seems to have the hang of it and ask them. Won't find many of those here. We were all raised by Kayos to be mean and warlike. You know he was mostly evil until recently. Maybe he's learned how to live?" Seems to think on this some as if trying to figure out what made Kayos change so drastcily.

Lark Sandstone ~knew this would not last long. that either rafe woyld be this ease to talk to , or that her back would not get up. she looked at rafe wondering just how it was that he came to be here. Not just in the castle but Amkelosh all together, plus a son to Kayos. Perhaps he gave up his home as she had easily done. Perhaps these were the reasons for her behavior. she drew back and watched him for a time as she spoke. Missing this element in her life."perhaps to return to Telis for a time would help." She turned her gaze down ,talking to herself. Rafe was right what did he know, what did she know. Kayos....? she had trie dthat route and got no where. It was possibly the reason why she was playing around with two lives, bella and herself. Live through her was working for her it seemed. "Perhaps i kno how to liveas someone else...." She once again spoke to herself.

Rafe "I don't think going to Telis is a good idea, It will only remind you of what you could have had, but gave up. You should look forward, not back. Focus on today and tomorrow. Learn from yesterday, but don't try to go back to it." He glances over at her again, it seems he's finally getting an understanding of her. She's not as complicated as he's always thought she was. "It's a good learning experiance to live in someone else's shoes and see the world a different way."
