Time: midday
Location: AmKelosh: main palace.
Nick Corwin ..There is a lot of comotion coming from around a corner to Bella's right. A large glowing golem turns that cornor moving pretty fast. It's covered in all sorts of runes which is what is causing the glowing, as the runes are what is glowing. It is made of stone and metal and is the latest experiment in war golems. This one seems to be out of control however. To Bella's left Nick steps out of the shadows and places himself in the path of the golem just as the golem reaches him. The golem has no trouble deflecting Nick's blade with one hand and then in a sweeping move of the other slams Nick against the wall. As Nick falls to the floor the golem rushes on, straight into the throne room. There's a bit more comotion, and then a loud explosion sound. A wizard runs down the hall toward the throne room crying out to not hurt her golem. Her loud shrieks of pain and sorrow can be heard from inside the throne room mixed with some harsh scolding from Kayos. About the time Nick is picking himself up off the floor, the wizard is walking back toward the lab holding a piece of the golem close to her chest and crying as if she lost an old friend or a child.
Bella looks to the golem, then to nick. she was about to protest but she knew Nick would not listen to her. She would just wait until the golem did what it had to with nick. She shook her head seeing Nick fly into the wall and the golem head on into the throne room. The sound that echoed from the throne room explaine dit all. She turned and looked at Nick. "Little rusty"
Nick Corwin stands fully and after hearing Bella's words mumbles something in draconic under his breath to low to really be heard, but it's just random mumbling anyway. He takes a deep breath to compose himself as he stands to his full height of just over six feet. He looks down the hallway toward the weeping wizard and sheaths his blade. "I told her it was a bad idea to mix those enchantments." He states flatly and with little emotion. His eyes are still on the wizard, but his look is a bit more distant than that. The golem was indeed powerful enough to be of great use durring the Great Wars, but it was too uncontrolable.
Bella stepped up beind Nick, looking over his shoulder at the wizard. "what is it?" She asked, wondering just what was going on. she placed her hands to her side and stood wondering just what Nick was doing. Her gaze lingered for a time upon the wizard, then back to Nick...." Spell go wrong?"
Nick Corwin turns to face Bella with a slight sigh. "Yeah you could say that." He gives a little shrug, not sure how deep Bella's magical knowledge runs. "They're trying to make war golems so we can send them out on the front lines instead of people. That way we keep the causilty number down as best we can." Nick's hair is as long as it ever is, if not a bit longer than the last time she saw him. It sweeps down to his knees now in the longest part of it. He wears it loose and free falling. He has on black pants and a white shirt today, but has taken to dressing a little more toward his station than he would in the past. He as least now looks like he has some money somewhere, but still doesn't look like the nobleman he is.
Bella looks side long at him. Curious to why he is chasing the golem. Not that a out of control golem would be hard to miss. Bella steps back and looks at the path of desrtuction left by the golem. "Oh Kayos is going to be mad." Her gaze darted from the crumbld wall an dthen holes. while her left hand moved through her own locks of blonde hair. her pale features suggest she needs sunlight more. Her deep blue eyes widen as she chuckles at the mess.
Nick Corwin lets out a little laugh as if the thought of Kayos pissed off is really funny to him. He too glances around at what damage the golem did, including the part of the wall where Nick hit it. There's a nice dent in the wall there and some of it crumbled onto the floor. If Nick was hurt in that, he doesn't show it now. He heals very fast however. He glances back toward the throne room and thinks of the angry voices that came out of it just after the golem went in. "I think he already is. Good thing he's too busy ruling right now." Nick glances back to the ruble and then to Bella, giving another uncaring shrug. "By the time he can take a moment to step out, it'll all be cleaned up already. In fact we might want to vacate this hall before we're asked to help in that."
Bella looks at him and nods. She did not wish to get struck in clean up duties either. she looke dto follow after Nick. her form turning in the direction away from the throne room. "where to?" Her hand move dto curl her blonde locks up behind her head and opin it into a bun. a rather stern look she now held, as she looke dto nick.
Nick Corwin motions toward the library. "Like books?" But then without waiting for her to answer, he moves toward the library door. He's never been one to really care what other people want or like. He's tried to care a few times, but it never really works out well. He opens the door and glances back to see if she's right behind him, wouldn't want to slam the door in her face after all. He knows all the court rules about opening doors and all that, but he can't be bothered to care about any of that. In his opinion women are just as capable of taking care of themselves as he is of himself. He won't treat them like breakable objects.
Bella nodded as she followed. He appeared to be in some type of mood this day. She shrugged, not really caring. she furrowed her brow. She didn't care at all. what was this. Perhaps spending this time with nick was indeed cooling her of any emotion she might have felt. But then it had been years now. She shrugged and let it pass her thoughts. Heading into the library. She moved along the long away from him. Engrossing herself in the large room and all the books. at one point she did not realize that he was there.
Nick Corwin had stepped aside once in the library to wait and see which section she'd move to. He checks the door to make sure it's shut and pauses to return a greeting to a statue that waves to him. There are many magical and wonderous things going on in this libary, but it is the one that holds most the personal collection of Kayos or Zelda, the two most magical people in all of Kelosh. Almost all decorations have some sort of magical properties. Nick isn't sure he's really in the mood to read right now, and it could be rude to read while there is someone else. Maybe he should try to speak to her? "I notice you're still hanging around the palace. What is it they have you doing?" He plops himself down into an overstuffed chair, sitting so his back is against one arm and one leg over the other.
Bella at first she does not reply to him. She was engrosse din the book she had picked up. It was a moment late rthat his voice registered. She turned, placing the book down. "what?" she looke dove rthe railing at Nick. Moving axcross the room to where he stood. "studying properties of magic. Just attentioning classes and such." she was amazed that he spoke first. Normally he waits for others to speak before he tries. Her head tilte dto the side. "i am not doing well in my classes and have to get a tutor is all. Mistress Zelda is helping." she stood silent watching her story and making sure not to get tripped up. Zelda was helping her. Just not in the way Nick would be thinking.
Nick Corwin seems to think on this, but he oftend seems to be in deep thought as if going over every little word, gesture, and movment a person makes in his head. He is said to be highly observant. His eyes trail over Bella slowly for a moment or two. He's never in a big hurry to speak. Silence is never akward to him. "Well, I guess if you're going to learn magic, she'd be the one to teach it." He reguards Bella pretty closly. His mother doesn't take many students, it happens, just not all that often. Zelda is after all the Warlord of Magic for the empire. She's a busy lady. If Bella is a student of Zelda, then either Zelda or Kayos saw potential in her. She doesn't feel that magical to Nick, but then he can't really sense magic or anything, only other Arepharis.
Bella "Zelda said she would see to it that I get the best tutor." she looked at Nick. Thinking in his manners he would be trying to figure something out, even if he did not know it. His mind seemed to be always working. she steppe dtoward a nearby table an dleaned against it. It was hard to keep from reverting to Lark ways at times. But she was starting to like being someone else. Even got herself a date out of it. She smirked and groaned as she thought of the time. "oh rats, Its that time. Ihave to get ready for my date." she close dher hand together an dclaped, ith a smirk she moved across to where Nick sat. "You know you could use a date or two." she smirked as she place dher hand on the back of the chair in which he sat.
Nick Corwin gives an amlost puzzled look when she mentions the word date, as if he has to puase and think about what that word means. He then laughs when she refers to him and gives a shake of his head. "Nah, I had a girl recently. I had to kill her." There is very little trace of remorse in his voice when he mentions that. But then he knew right from the start Vivian was a spy, that's why he dated her. He played along for a bit, almost forgot he was playing, but in the end he revealed herself and he had to take her down for it. In Nick's experiance dating always ends that badly. "But, take my advice and stay away from the Ramezkie family, they're all bad news. Too often they're trying too hard to be like their patriarch and he's a slut."
Bella "who would that be, nick?" She smirked and moved away from the chair. She shook her head. the jealous factor was indeed deep in most people, but Nick was lacking a lot of emotions. She smirked and shook her head...."Well we have to see. He is talking me out to dinner..." she smirked , knowing who Nick spoke of and she smiled...."Prehaps that is what i need." she was getting to comfortable with nick. she shruged and moved to the door. "see ya later nick."
