Time: night
Location: AmKelosh
Note:
Lark Sandstone she moved toward the hallway that led into the main throne area. She was looking for Kayos or someone. she had thought to ask Zelda about the language problem but, she wished a few words with her so called father. she moved across the threshold of his throne room, She needed little introduction. the amazons there knew her well and let her within kayos's throne room. she stood within the centre of the audince chambre, waiting , she hate dto wait but this was a skill she was learning rather a great deal as of late. She wishe dto seek Kayos to ask if there as a task or a deed she could tend to. she was feeling displaced as of late. thinking to return to telis prehaps or something of the sort. She rocked back and forth upon her feet as she waited for her father
Master Kayos
is sitting on this throne room, even at this hour. Running and empire is an all day job and it's not strange at all to find him still here. He's looking over some odd paperwork. Not odd as in strange, but odd as in typical everyday stuff, nothing of importance. Or nothing that would stand out in the eyes of a spy, where one to somehow get ahold of them. He signs the paper and then looks up to Lark standing before him. There was a time when anyone that came into his presance would drop to one knee before even taking their next breath. Iatha says Kayos is getting soft, and he does miss those old days. He seemed to be more respected then. Maybe it was more feared. But when they stop respecting, they stop fearing, and then he has to punish them. That's never pretty. "Speak."
Lark Sandstone she could have struck herself silly with forgetfulness. She place dher hand to her brow, she was weary tired, bored perhaps. she slappe dher hand to her brow and quickly bowed, kneeing to the throne floor. She looke dup t him, "sire....father....." she greeted him the best way she knew or felt she such. she looked to him from the throne floor. "I have come asking, no begging for a task? Send me somewhere give me a task or a deed to fulfill. My mind is going mad with these language lessons, please I beg of you father, give me a task."
Master Kayos
looks at Lark strangly. He exchanges glances with some of the Amazons around the room before looking back at Lark. He lets out a little laugh. "Well it must be important to you indeed if you kneel before me. You've only done that once or twice in the past, and only to beg something of me." His voice is rough and demonic sounding. But then he does look like a large vampiric demon. "It's hard to send you out with a task, when you can't speak the languages you need to communicate with the people you'd have to interact with. Is this not why you failed in finding Drachen like I asked? You couldn't speak the languages you needed to ask the right questions of the right people."
Lark Sandstone "I found Drachen, twice over.... i know not what the languages have to do with business here at home. As for telis, i know the language and yet you do not send me back there. " her hands tensed against her knee as she pushe dherself up. her hard gaze narrowed and remained upon Kayos, even when she heard the amazons moving about. Kayos chambres very rarely had few women within it. She watched and waited. "Drachen i have spoken in my reports, well that i have to get transferred for the language thing. It took some time. I found the man and spoke of your desire to speak with the likes of one such as him. He has not shown his face yet, nor do i feel he will.
Master Kayos
is sad that his old friend and warlord didn't come to him. He seems to have forgotten what Lark told him on what Drachen is doing or where she found him. Odd, you'd think he'd have remembered at least which land Drachen was in and how far it was. He must have been busy at the time. With Dacklyn disapearing, and Dentril getting engaged to Iatha, and then Iatha becoming a High Power. Old generals didn't take priority over any of that. Kayos slumps down in his throne and gets a thougful look on his face. Drachen was his right hand man, helped him get Connie who is now heir to the Kelosh Empire. He seems to have forgotten Lark is even in the room and just looks far off, thinking of old times and old battles.
kanus_ramezkie left the room
Lark Sandstone "kayos!" her tones wer hard and narrowed at him, to get his attention. She stood sient and watche dhim waiting. She was tired of taking the back seat. She looked at him. He would listen to her this day. her form lingered for a time upon the floor before him. She was tiored of this. Kayos was to make her a task an she woudl not leave until he had don just that. Her amethyst eyes narrowing. she had found out that new recuits within Amkelosh had been given detail and tasks, She had a lovely run in with Rafe, she cringed and still waited
Master Kayos
looks over at Lark, but isn't angry with her at her outburst. She used to be a lot worse about it. When she first came to Kelosh, she had no manners and no respect at all. She acted like she ruled. Does he even have a task for her that she can do with her lack of disapline and her little knowledge of languages? Maybe if he sent her with a team, but she's not a team player. or at least, Kayos doesn't think she is. "I don't have anything for you right now. Go to your leasons. Learn your languages, and your manners." He's trying to train her for court since she's a natural born princess, but maybe he shouldn't? Maybe she's better suited for the field?
Lark Sandstone "but..." she was about to protest. But instead she held her tongue. Her thought flying about her head. She would make him see, she would make him understand there wa mor eto her then just what she was not able to do. She had thought she proved herself when she brought nick back to him. she looked at him and bite her tongue...."very well."
Master Kayos
is surprised she's giving up so quickly. She's never given up that quickly in the past. Is she learning her place? The war is starting soon, so Kayos' thoughts of late have been on that. He doesn't want to get lark involved just now, not in the war. "Though I guess it is time I gave Nick something to do again. Maybe I can send you out with him? Or with Rafe. He's around right now, getting ready to set out again. I dont' think you're ready to go out on your own just yet. Not enough experiance. "
Lark Sandstone she hated hearing his words. she could handle thinks herself she knew that she could. But she had nothing to prove to herself, then she did have to prove to Kayos. "very well." she did not fight nor burst out in a yelling fit. she looked at Kayos and nodded. "I will take what you offer. If I am to learn more control and gain more experience then this shall be the way."
Master Kayos
"I don't have a certain task right now. I'll have to see what I need done and evaluate those I have to do it and see who is best suited for the task." He seems as if he's going to stop there, but then he gives Lark a sidways glance. "Why are you so eagar for a task anyway? Are you not happy in AmKelosh? I thought you grew up in a palace?"
Lark Sandstone I am happy here." she spoke clearly, making sure that she sounded sincere. "Amkelosh is like a second home to me. It is just i wish to dem myself worth of your honor, my sire. i wish to know that you trust me...." she looked to him and narrowe dher brow in question. she was not trying to trick him. she wa just bored with her studyies she was a princess , yes.....but.... she wished to be enticed again. She wishe dto be of some use.
Master Kayos
is surprised again. Pleased, but surprised. She has gone and fetched Nick a couple of times, that proved her potential. Kayos just wants to see her reach her full potential in life. Maybe she is better suited for the field and will gain needed experiance if he gives her tasks. "I will try to find you something worthy of that goal then." He pauses, glancing slightly away, then looks at her again. "How are your fact finding skills? Could you trick someone into thinking you are a friend and discover all their secrects?"
Lark Sandstone what?" she looked at him, her gaze narrowed, she just about wante dto laugh. she had done it to Nick twice. But Kayos kne wthis yes. She looked at him and knowed to who and why he would want to send anyone upon such a task. Her amethyst gaze moved over Kayos. "to what purpose? My skills are fair, i have done it before for a short time that is. for a long time well i know not how well i would fair."
Master Kayos
gives a little shrug as if to say it's not big deal. "Nick has a lot of secrets he's kept from me. I'm curious as to what he thinks he needs to keep. I've trained him too well to be tortured, so that means only a friend of his could find out his secrets. For one thing, I'd like to know what he lost that was so important he risked his freedom to go to Serenity and get it. There are other secrects he has as well. I'm having trouble finding anyone skilled enough to collect them without falling prey to his manipulations or being caught."
Lark Sandstone her eyes locked with Kayos....knowing she could very well pull it off. But the after effects. How could she be sure that when nick's secrets were learned tahts he would not be left to face his wrath.
Master Kayos
sees the look of confidence in Lark's eyes. She's sure of herself, that's a good thing. Sometimes confidence makes you a little more powerful. "If you choose to take this task, you can take a guise so he will not know it is you. Though you will have to be careful of him. He is trained in social engineering. He knows how to manipulate people and spin things to his favor. He'll try to play you, no matter what you look like."
Lark Sandstone I do not think so.....he knew not a thing of me before. He saved me, twice." her features conveye dthe smirked she had been hiding. "i shall take this task. It will be enlightening. but can you assure me that after if i learn what you need to know, that I shall remain safe and unharmed?"
Master Kayos
"He wouldn't dare hurt you. And knowledge is power. If you gain knowledge of him, you gain power over him. The question would be what excuse do we give for bringing your other idenity and him together. I could make you Amazon and asign you as his new bodyguard? He should have five and is lacking one, so he wouldn't supect that. The other exucse is to say you're the child of a Kelosh noble and are staying in AmKelosh as a guest. Then it'd be up to you to initiate the meetings between yourself and Nick."
Lark Sandstone He knews me as a woman, Bella......the one that I was well hiddin out as in Serenity. i could bring her here as a guest to the crown.... the story I shall have to make solid. for he was a friend of Petter's and reporter' have friends all over that he might has those connections as well. " she stood looking at Kayos, her mind orking over time as she thought abou this new interesting task.
Master Kayos
"that's a good idea. But why are you a guest? Who are you related to that I'd have you as a guest? Nick knows the history of many of the noble familes. If you don't talk about your past much, he won't be able to suspect you however. The story must be solid and set in stone. Or seem like it so he doesn't see through it. And as for his friends. . . . he never mentions them or brings them by AmKelosh. I'm curious of them as well. Who they are and what they do. "
Lark Sandstone she knew about Kick's friends in Kayosia, but kayos never aske dfor before abou them. She shrugged he would learn in time. she turned to face kayos. "you could stage something to the point o Nick rescuing bella again, perhaps nursing her back to health, he was a bit taken with rescuing her, for what reason i know not. what of that? Perhaps it is easier if he thinks she is wanted for something?"
Master Kayos
"Yes, I rememer he brought you here when you were injured. It's rare that he'd risk security to bring a stranger to AmKelosh. Prehaps you can go to him and ask him for help and protection. I can hire some people to chase you around to make it look real. Then you can make him come to me and ask if he's allowed to protect you. I'll pretend to consider it and then finally give in. I don't think he's the nursing back to health type. "
Lark Sandstone you'd be surprised." she smirked as she looked at him, tapping her lips. Her mind was at work. this might work. But she had been slowly gaining what little trust he was giving her these days. But to the crownd of Kayosia, and to her new father, what was Nick. she looke dto Kayos, and bowed....."I shall see that this is done." Her loyalty was to Kayosia, to Kayos.
Master Kayos
"And if all works out, he'll never know it was you." Kayos gives a little shrug. It's possible she could gather all the information and be fought out as a spy by Nick without ever revealing she is Lark. She could come out of this making Nick think Bella was a bad guy. "Of course he'd want to kill Bella, but you'd just drop the guise and never take it again and he can't kill what he can't find. You're protected, he knows he can't kill 'Lark'. He wouldn't risk pissing me off, not even for personal vengance." Kayos can't help but think of the last spy Nick killed. His own girlfriend, Vivian Rio. Kayos would know to know what she found out. Nick said she was a spy against Kelosh. Kayos isn't so sure. What kind of enemies does Nick have and do they pose a threat to Kelosh?
Lark Sandstone when do you wish this taken care of?" she watched Kayos. Either he took great delight in this, or he ould care less. She furrowed her brow. having wanted the task and now having one. hough she felt a little guilty about taking it. she cringed at the thought and turned from the throne and Kayos..."i will see this through then."
Master Kayos
"Get with me, Zelda, or an Amzon to make sure your story is solid enough to withstand Nick's prying. Though he said he never looked into Vivian's background, he might not Bella's. Unless you try to claim something he knows to not be true. Then he'll wonder why you lie. So you must be careful what you say and how you say it. And try to learn some new words, or a new way of talking to better fool him. He might recognize your pattern of speach.
Lark Sandstone "who will you send after me, just so I know who is it that i need to be aware of. a new way to speak....how why?" she furrowed her brow and tilted her hea dto the side. "Perhaps I should not know how to use a sword for I know he knows my skill well. " Her eyes narrowed upon thought of what to do bout this what story what skills she was to change, now her way of speaking.
Master Kayos
"I'll get some people to pretend to be with the Order of Light. You can say you tried to join them once thinking they helped people and were the good guys, but then you found out how evil they really are. He knows them to be like that, so he'd believe you. And they are long time enemies of the Kelosh Empire. They followed Lysandra, Lady of Light and now follow Hyicia. I'm sure you'll figure out the rest. Though Order of Light are healer. So it might be best if you don't know the use of any weapon at all. It'd also give you a reason to need protection from a warrior such as Nick."
Lark Sandstone but why? what is my reason. he will ask why i needed them? " she looke dto kayos, knowin this story could not be done in one night. she cringe dat the thought o not bein able to protect herself. No weapons, her words, the way she was, strange how she had rto become everything that she was not. Just so Nick might like her and wish to aid her. she looked at kayos. "We will see wat happened then."
Master Kayos
"You wanted to be in the Order of Light ot heal and help people. Then you found out that your superiors were evil and they tried to kill you. Nick has helped you before, so you knew he'd protect you again if you asked. Or hoped he would. I know you have healing abilities, so this excuse is workable. You will not be attacked within AmKelosh anyway. That would give it away. Nick knows none can break into this place, save another High Power."
Lark Sandstone Then i am to find him outside the walls of Amkelosh, but that would... I thought he was not allowed outsid ethe walls without guards and such. I mean his guards will they know. It is perhaps best taht they knew nothing, but they would try to fight of the attackers, this could endup with causualities.
Master Kayos
"You don't have to be attacked the day you start this. I'm sure he'll belive you even if he doesn't see the order of light at first. If he needs proof, then I can find some reason to let him out into Kayosia where he can be attacked. The Amazons would know the truth, and I doubt they'd end up hurt. They are my personal bodyguards above all other types of warriors I have for a reason. They are the best warriors of the Kelosh Empire. The only injuries we'd have to worry about is Nick killing the hired help. But that's a risk we'll have to take."
Lark Sandstone Then i guess all is set." she looked to him and waite dto be dismissed. she stood poised and silent. A change. her mind was dilegently at work. She had things to plan and things to greatly improve upon and work toward. She walked to Kayos and kisse his cheek, before bowing and kneeling to him..."good eve my sire.
Master Kayos
is surprised yet again by Lark this evening. That's the third time. He never expected her to kiss him on the cheek. What a loving daughter thing to do. He wasn't sure Lark even liked him, but was using him as a political tool. He guesses he was wrong. "You know you don't have to call me sire. Father or Master would be better. Sire sounds stuffy." He stands as well, ready to retire to his personal chambers for the night and sleep until morning.
