Nice Day on the Beach

The day is a nice one. The sun shines bright, everything is freshly green, and little creatures play in the trees and grass around the Kayosia palace. You've been walking around the palace -for whatever reason- and find yourself at one of the recreational beaches on the palace grounds. You stop near a couple of lounge chairs and notice somebody has left their stuff under the shade of the umbrellas that protect the chairs from the hot sun. The chairs and umbrellas are out year round, so it doesn't surprise you to see them there. However even though it is now spring, the waters of Oshiana come from the north and tend to be cold, even for the semitropical region Kayosia is in.

A woman's voice yells hey, and catches your attention. You look out to the water and see a young looking red-head using a walk on water spell. She stands about level with the lower part of the waves, but the wave's crest splash up around her as high as her knees. She far enough out that the water is deeper than what she makes it look like, which is why you know she using a spell. She's not looking at you though, she's looking all around her as if searching for something in the water. She looks happy and if you were closer -not the 50 yards from her you are (about 150 meters)- you would be able to hear her laughing. That laughter still might carry to you on the wind.

Something leaps out of the water behind the girl, using the crest of a wave to hide it's progress toward her. It is a man. Water splashes off of him, shining in the sun, just as the water cascading down his bare chest does. He looks human, but from this distance he wouldn't look familiar to you. His hair is as long as Matt's but as black as Nick's. His arms are at his side when he leaps from the water, but they raise up and out, and begin to curve inward. He obviously intends to wrap them around the girl. The girl doesn't seem to notice the man, but right before he closes his arms, she is gone. He cries out then twists himself as his forward momentum carries him toward the water face first. He enters the water again shoulder first.

You hear laughter next to you and look to your left to see the girl standing on the other side of the two lounge chairs. She picks up a white beach towel that has little black crescent moons all over it. You know this to be standard Kelosh issue and one of the same designs you have to choose from when wanting a towel. She wraps herself in it and then after making a couple of deaf hand movements for a spell, simply speaks in a normal tone.

"I'm going to start the fire for the grill."

After this she waves one arms in the air twice to the man and then runs off toward a beach deck that contains grills and tables for AmKelosh residents. When you look at the man again he is standing about the same place she was before, only the waves crest over his shoulders every now and then. Judging by how much taller he was than the girl, and since you've seen the girl up close and know how tall she is, you can guess the man is just over six feet tall. He looks like he's just dropped his arm from waving back to the girl when you look at him and then after a very brief pause he begins to swim ashore.

Perhaps it was curiosity, perhaps you got lost in your thoughts, but for whatever reasons you're still standing by the chair when the man comes out of the water and toward you. He swims a lot faster than most humans you've seen. He runs up the beach toward you, drops of water seem to leap from him in little glittery displays as the sun glints off them. He is well muscled, but not one of those huge guys that goes overboard. This guy is the type that could put on clothing and hide his muscles if he wanted. He wears his trunks low on his waist and they come down to his knees. He stops about 4 meters from you, a wide smile on his face. He and the girl have been having a lot of fun and it shows in his attitude as much as it did in hers.

"Could you hand me that towel?"

He holds out his hand for you to do as he asks. His voice is deep, with just the right amount of bass. From this close up you might notice his eyes look a lot like Nick's only they aren't quite as cold and have life in them. You of course have no idea Nick's body was still alive. He'd told almost everyone he died. You do know however that he has many brothers and sisters, Zelda has told you this much. Zelda most likely also told you that Nick had a little brother that looked a lot like him and even looked up to Nick.

The towel by the way is similar to the one the girl had, but this one is white with a single, large black crescent in the middle of it. He finds the other towel to look too girlie. Though you wouldn't know he felt like that, most guys do and that you would most likely know.
