This group is comprised of the Father, John Yates and his three sons, Herb, Greg and Tim. John has been involved with Bluegrass music since he was a small boy. He has played for local festivities in the community of Taylors Valley and surrounding Southwestern Virginia area for many years. He has trained and inspired his sons to follow in his footsteps of Bluegrass. They too, have played since they were small children. The beautiful family harmony of this group is a delight to listen to.

Wyatt Rice came to the group in 1997. He has had extensive experience with various musical groups, having been part of the Tony Rice Unit for fifteen years. Wyatt has two solo projects, New market Gap and Picture In A Tear With Santa Cruz.

John got his start playing with his childhood friend, Kenneth Ball, now deceased. Community affairs was the base training for John. The sons have had varied experence with other musical groups, both in recording and entertaininment.
