Currently he continues with his radio programmes on TRT

and with his reviews on Argentine Tango in selected

Curriculum Vitae

Born in Gelibolu in 1936, he studied at Kabatas and Istanbul Law School. Following musical training, he formed a band and played on Istanbul Radio and then on Television of the Technical University. Later on, he focused his attention to Argentinean Tango as a listener and a researcher.

The subject of his first article published in "Muzik Ekspres" magazine in 1958, was Astor Piazzolla.

In 1980, he has given a conference on Tango in Spanish at Lectorado Espanol where he was studying the language. 

He participated to the 1985 meeting "Presencia y Perspectivas de la cultura Hispanica en Turquia", organised by Embassy of Argentina in Ankara with a an article. Being among founders of 2 Tango Associations in Turkey, Fehmi Akgun was elected in 1991 as Correspondent Academician to the National Tango Academy of Republic of Argentina. In 1992, he was awarded the title "Honorary Attaché of Culture" by the Embassy of Argentina in Ankara.

Through his various radio and TV programs since 1982, Fehmi Akgun has been able to reach a wide audience who prefer Argentene Tango.Encouraged by the popularity and interest awakened by his radio programmes he has published a book on the History and Development of Argentene Tango in Turkish, full of incredible photos
