This book is a little different than Bertrice's other books in that she uses fantasy to weave this great story. But it's a good read, about a girl named Wynne of Gwernach who has no desire to marry, until Madoc of Powys enters her life. He claims to be betrothed to Wynne. Reluctant at first, Wynne soon starts to develop feelings for Madoc, and with his help, overcomes the feelings that haunt her, which stem from another time and another place.
Set in the 1300's, a young girl named Theadora (Adora) falls in love with Prince Murad, and he with her. But, promised to his father, Orkhan, the Grand Turk; she is torn away from Murad. Through her destiny, she is swept off to another love in another place, but as fate would have it, Adora and Murad were meant only for each other.
Based in the 3rd century. Zenobia, a descendant of Cleopatra, is a young girl when she witnesses the brutality of Roman soldiers, and vows to hate all Romans forever.

This is a most wonderful story of a woman who was not only beautiful, but also wise. Janet Leslie, a young Scottish girl is kidnapped and sold into slavery. She and two other girls become part of a plan that could change all of the 16th century Ottoman Empire-for the better. She is renamed Cyra and through all the trials of life and love becomes the most respected and powerful woman in the East. This is a great book and has been read over and over by myself and other fans of Bertrice Small. This story also has many ties to some of Ms. Small's other books, not only through the Leslie family but also through Esther Kira.
