After getting off the wagon train in 3 Crossings, he was walking through town when he spotted a help wanted sign in the general store. He went in and talked with Mina the owner about a job. Mina liked the young man, so she decided to give him a chance. She hired him as the store clerk and postal clerk. Then he headed over to the hotel to get a room. After getting a room, he went and looked around the town.
