WILLOW MANOR

Hello! I'm Meghan and this is my wonderful husband, Luke. Welcome to our lovely home! You may tour it as often as you wish in the day time of course, but come night we ask you very politely to leave because we are just newlyweds.         : )
We were married on May 12, 1860.
Luke blindfolded Meghan just before they approached the house. He kissed her sweetly and snapped the reins, five minutes later he pulled the buckboard to a stop and dismounted.

"Are we here?" Meg asked.

Luke came around and carried her down. "Yep. Are you ready?"

Meg nodded a wide smile on her face. Slowly Luke untied the blindfold never taking his eyes off his intended. Meg blinked quickly her eyes adjusting to the sudden brightness of the sun. Once she was able to see again, she turned to the house with her mouth gaped open and her eyes were wide. "Oh Luke it's a dream house. I never imagined it could be so beautiful."

Luke turned to look at the beautiful two story white house with blue trim, it had just been completed the night before, and not a moment too soon. Their wedding was only three days away, and he was sure the paint was still wet. "Would you like to take a tour?" Meg nodded quickly, and Luke took her hand.

The two ran up the porch steps and stopped at the front door. Meg looked at her porch that extended across the front of the house and smiled when she saw the porch swing. She tugged at Luke's sleeve and pointed to it. "Luke can we sit a while?"

Luke chuckled, "Later, don't you want to see the inside?"

"Okay, lead the way."

Luke opened the door and followed his intended inside. The foyer was not large but comfortable, the stairs leading to the second floor in front of them and to their left was the parlor. Luke took Meg's hand and led her into the room. The room was large with a fireplace, sofa, several chairs, a small table and a small bar. It was the perfect room to entertain in.

The next room they headed for was the study. This was to be Meg's special place and Luke had it decorated with that in mind. He opened the door and ushered her in. Meg looked around and gasped. There was a fireplace in here as well, and there were several bookshelves with volumes of books. The desk was large with two chairs in front of it. A large chair sat in the corner by the fireplace. On the desk was some stationary, and Meg picked it up. The paper must've been special ordered as it bore her monogram, or what was going to be her monogram M. S. in calligraphy.

"Luke where did all of this come from?" Meg asked in wonder.

"Everything in the house were either gifts, or things I had stored away, and some I ordered and shipped here." Luke gave her a shy smile. "This is your private room where you can study in peace. But the chair in the corner is mine, that is if you'd allow me to come in and read while you're here sometimes."

Meg smiled broadly, "Of course you can come in while I'm here. Luke I never dreamed of having a study of my own, let alone a place to use for my medical school courses." She walked over to him and embraced him tightly. "Thank you this is more than I could have dreamed of. Now let's see the rest of it."

Luke led her out of the room and towards the back of the house, where the dining room and kitchen were located. On the way back to the foot of the stairs, Meg noticed a door hidden in the staircase. "What's that?"

"Ahhh, how could I forget." Luke said as he opened the door with a flourish. "Tada!"

"We have a privy! An indoor privy." Meg said excitedly.

"Well I couldn't bear to think of you having to go outside in the middle of the night. Of course we have an outhouse too." Meg giggled and Luke led her upstairs. The bedrooms were all located on the second floor. Upon coming up to the landing there was a door to their immediate left, down the hall was a window that faced the back of the house, two more rooms faced each other there. The third bedroom was located in the middle of the hallway the door across from the banister of the stairway.

"The two bedrooms down the hall don't have any furniture in them yet, but the boilers are there." Luke led her into the other bedroom. "This is where I'm assuming you'll be dressing the day of our wedding."

Meg came into the room and smiled it was a medium sized room that was painted a soft mauve, the mahogany furnishings setting off the colors perfectly. "It's beautiful Luke."

"Serena decorated it." He said and led her out of the room and towards the stairs. She stopped in front of the last door.

"Is this the master bedroom?"

Luke nodded, "I don't want to show it to you yet. I ordered our furniture from Boston and it comes in tomorrow. I want you to see it with everything there. I want it to be perfect."

Meg smiled shyly. "Okay, can we go sit on the swing now."

Luke laughed, "Yes let’s go sit on our swing."

As they sat together in the swing, Meg reveled in the knowledge that this was theirs. She mentioned having a dinner party to thank the express riders, and all the volunteers who had helped built the house so quickly, and Luke agreed it would be a good idea.
