AUGUST 2, 1860

Tyson made his way out of the bordello after having a couple of drinks with Cody. He looked over at the general store and saw Lou going in to drop off the mail. He thought it was a good chance to have a chat with him about what had happened with Kimberly earlier that week.

Tyson entered the store and walked toward the entrance of the post office. He leaned against the side of the door and peered into the post office. "Hey Lou, havent seen you around much lately"

Lou looked up suddenly at the sound of his voice, she felt a blush rising in her cheeks and hurriedly started to inspect her shoes, "I've been busy is all"

Tyson raised his eyebrows "Oh is that right? Cos I kinda get the feeling that you've been avoiding me"

"Nope, just trying to concentrate on my chores," Lou tried to brush past him onto the street, but Tyson blocked her path.

"Aah yes, that must be it . . . your chores. Hmm. Isnt it funny how I've noticed you doing everyone elses chores as well, huh?" Tyson asked as Lou pushed him out of the way.

"I owed em is all, figured it was about time I paid up," Lou hurried past him onto the street.

"I don't recall you owing me anything, yet when I went to muck out the stables yesterday I found it had been done," Tyson quickly followed.

Lou stopped and gave Tyson a smile, "I wouldn't be complaining about that if I were you. I've been in a charitable mood is all."

"Oh, then you wont mind telling me why you ran off so quickly at the bordello the other night?"

Lou looked at Tyson and rolled her eyes, "Oh alright! Gee, anything to stop you from bugging me."

"See my methods work eventually," Tyson grinned as they continued to walk down the street.

"Hey Tyson, how are things going down at the station?" Kid asked as he crossed Tyson and Lous path on the street. Lou mumbled that she had to return to the station to do some chores and then quicken her stride to her horse. Stunned Tyson watched Lou continue on without him as Tyson stopped to talk to Kid.

Tyson shook his head and focused on the speaker, "Oh hi Kid, pretty well I think."

Kid smiled, "You look a little stunned there, whats up?"

Tyson looked Kid in the eye, "I guess you know Lou pretty well, huh"

Kid was taken back by the question, "Yeah pretty well."

Tyson shrugged his shoulders, "Lou told me something today. I cant seem to get my head around it. Im really confused."

Kid raised his eyebrows, "Lou told you?"

"Yeah, I just cant figure it out," Tyson sat down on a porch step and rested his hands on his knees.

"Well," Kid said as he sat down beside him, "Lous had a hard time before she came here. Shes got a right to make her own way. Dont worry it took me a while to get used to it, too, but you will."

Tyson looked stunned "What? What the hell are you going on about?"

"Oh no!" Kid hit himself in the head with his hand "Lou didnt tell you that she was a girl, did she? Oh man, shes gonna be so mad with me."

"No! What! I can't believe this!" Tyson shook his head hoping this new information would sink in easier.

"Lou told me that he . . . well she, was interested in someone else, I was trying to figure out who it was!"

Kid grinned, "If you had half a brain youd know who it is."

"Uhh, one thing at a time Kid, please."

Kid nudged Tysons shoulder, "You gotta keep it a secret Tyson. You have to, not many people know about this, besides, I was kind of counting on making it till my next birthday"

Tyson smiled, "Its okay, Ill keep it quiet for your sake."

Tyson and Kid departed. Kid went to visit Blythe at the post office, and Tyson returned to the waystation because he had a run this evening.
