AT THE VALENTINE'S DANCE! FEBRUARY 14, 1860 |
| Ted and Rose are walking around looking at all the donations that are for
sale. Mr. Simmons, Miss Jacy and Cody were at different tables taking money for
everybodys purchases. Miss Jacy was collecting money for the raffles while the other
two were selling items. Ted thought Cody was a very good salesman. He would flatter the
pretty young ladies so well that they would leave his table with one or two things at
least. Very observant Ted watched as Miss Jacy watched as ladies approached Codys
table and as soon as he started sweet talking them Miss Jacys smile would turn
upside down. Ted deduced that Miss Jacy has a crush on Cody. Rose was looking at the paper flowers that her class had made, especially some she had made. "Would you like one, Rose?" Ted inquired. "That would be nice, Ted." Rose smiled at her date as he handed her one of the roses she had made. Rose had told herself all day that she wasnt going to think about Jesse. That she was going to enjoy her evening with Ted, but Jesse kept cropping up in her mind every now and then. After buying her a paper flower they went, and Ted bought them their supper plates. Ted paid Lee, and then they found a table and sat down. After eating and buying some raffle tickets, they moved on into the big corral where the music and dancing was beginning. |
