DECEMBER 3, 1861

The Pony Express Riders, Rachel, Teaspoon and the children were gathered around the table. They had just finished supper. The only ones not there were Buck and Caly because they were at their new home, and Noah and Kid because they were out on mail runs.

"You know Jimmy there's a fine section of land not far from the station. I thought I'd give it to you and Lee as a wedding present. If you want we can ride out and take a look at that parcel of land."

Jimmy was so surprised that he wasn't sure of what to say. Finally, he found the words, "Thanks, Teaspoon. I'm sure Lee will want a place of her own."

Ike signs. We can help you build your house for a wedding present like we did for Buck.

Jimmy nods.

"That will be my wedding present to you, too, Jimmy." Jesse says.

"I'll also help." Lou offers.

"And Blaine, Zee and I can make some curtains for your new home. Lee can go with us and pick out the material that she wants for them." Rachel suggests.

"I'm sure she'll like that, Rachel." Jimmy says.

"Come on Jimmy, lets go take a look at that land. And if you like it, I can talk to Walter about purchasing it. He owns it, but has been trying to sell it." With his tummy full Teaspoon wobbled outside with Jimmy close on his heels.

Zee and Blaine signed to one another and then went out to the barn. Jesse sneakily followed them. "What are you two up to?"

"We wanted to talk about getting Lee something from just the two of us." Zee informed him.

"Why?" the young lad inquired.

"Because she's been so nice to us," she answered. "She has taken us on rides with her and Jimmy, and she's even bought us lunch at the Silver Spoon to celebrate being able to stay here." All the time Zee was speaking, Blaine nodded her head in agreement with her. "But how can we give them something when we don't have any money?"

"I don't know, but if I think of something I'll let you know." Jesse stated and then started cleaning a stall while the girls signed to each other.

When Jesse was finished, neither of the three children had any ideas of what to get Lee and Jimmy for their wedding present, and most of all they hadn't figured out how to earn any money. As they walked into the house, Jesse said, "I can ask Michael, maybe he would know of some way for us to earn some extra money, so that we could get Jimmy and Lee something special for their wedding."

"Us!" Zee exclaimed, and the girls looked at one another and then at Jesse.

"Yeah, us, I'd like to be included. Alright?"

The girls signed to each other, and then Zee said, "No, we don't mind. Sometimes three heads are better than two." Because Zee had picked up sign language a lot quicker than Jesse had, she always told him what Blaine had signed. She watched Blaine's hands and then spoke, "Blaine says with three of us, we'll have more money to buy something, too." Jesse nodded.

That night the three children went to bed thinking about who they could ask to do some odd jobs for, so that they could get Jimmy and Lee something just from the three of them. By morning Jesse had an idea, but first he would discuss it with Melissa before telling the girls.
