MARCH 26, 1861

Teaspoon had stopped by at the Wild Joker's Ranch where he stayed awhile to help supervise the work of the building of the chutes. Actually he wanted to make sure that Cody didn't slack off on the job. Cody was more into playing than working or lately he was more into sulking than playing or working. Teaspoon just couldn't understand why him and Jacy weren't getting along. Ever since she had come back to Dreamville, she just hadn't been the same. He had never known Jacy and Melissa to fight, and before they had seemed so close, but now even that had changed. "Cody get back to work." Teaspoon hollered as he saw him teasing Jimmy again.

"Awe, awe sir," Cody saluted Teaspoon and picked his hammer back up and started to hammer a nail into the wood.

Meanwhile back in town the Deveraux's stagecoach had just pulled into town. Mr. Overly reached back and started handing the luggage down to their owners as they descended from the stagecoach. He had rode up front after their first stop when he found out that Dev knew Teaspoon. He had found out as much as possible about Teaspoon and the town as he rode beside Dev. From Dev's description it seemed like a peaceful town, and Teaspoon seemed like a nice guy. Ernest hoped that this wasn't the Teaspoon that Kitten had mentioned in her nightmare. He didn't know what he would do if it was. He just knew that he wouldn't ever hand Kitten over to the law no matter what.

He jumped down off the stagecoach with his luggage and said, "Goodbye."

"Goodbye," Dev replied. Then she swatted the team with the reins and the stagecoach rolled out of town.

Spotting the hotel Ernest walked over and acquired him a room. He unpacked. He wasn't planning on staying long in Dreamville. He hoped to find out all he needed to know in a few days, and then hightail it back to Wyoming. After unpacking Ernest decided to go and introduce himself to the sheriff. He walked over to the jailhouse, but there wasn't anybody there.

"If you're looking for the sheriff, he's not in town." Grace said as she came up behind the new fella.

"Oh, and would you happen to know where he is?" Ernest asked.

"He's out at the Wild Joker's ranch." Seeing the perplexed expression on his face she continued, "if you would like for me to show you the way, I will."

"No, that's ok. There's no big hurry." Ernest replied. "But thanks anyways Miss--"

"Miss Hunter, I'm the sheriff's niece."

"Oh, well I'm pleased to meet ya." Ernest tipped his hat. "I'm Ernest Overly."

"Pleased to meet you, sir. Why did you want to see my uncle?" Grace was curious.

"Oh, I just wanted to make his acquaintance. Dev, the stagecoach driver, told me about him. She told me what a great sheriff he was, so I just wanted to introduce myself and meet the great Sheriff Teaspoon. I guess I'll just have to meet him some other time." Ernest explained.

"Alright, well he should be back into town later today." Grace informed him.

"Thanks and miss can ya tell me a good place to get some lunch?" Ernest's stomach began to growl as he patted it.

"Well, the hotel has a dining room, and then there's the restaurant, Silver Spoon." Grace answered.

"Hmmm . . . well, I think I'll try the hotel. Thanks again ma'am."

"It was my pleasure, Mr. Overly." Grace's first impression of Ernest was that he was nice gentleman. She watched him cross the street to the hotel, and then she returned to her shop.

While eating lunch Ernest thought about the conversation that him and John had that morning after Kitten had another one of her nightmares.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

John was working in his study, and when Ernest entered, John was muttering to himself.

"What's wrong, boss?" Ernest asked.

"Kitten had another nightmare." John stated without looking up.

"Oh!" He paused. "I wish I knew who she was, and why she was having nightmares."

"Me too. I think it has something to do with a man by the name of Teaspoon. Do you know anybody by that name?" John looked up.

Ernest thought for a few minutes and then finally said, "I don't know him personally, but I've heard talk of a Texas Ranger by the name of Teaspoon Hunter from some of the hired hands. They say he used to be a Texas Ranger, but now he’s a sheriff in a town called Dreamville. It’s located in Nebraska. They say he’s a tough lawman and he has six gunfighters who help him out. Because of them there’s not much crime in Dreamville. At least that’s what they say. Could it be the same Teaspoon that Kitten is afraid of?"

"I hope not, but there’s only one way to find out. I want you to go to this town called Dreamville and find out all you can about Teaspoon. I’m not sure how you’ll go about seeing if he knows our Kitten but do your best. I know I can count on you, Ernest." John stated. "Here take this money and catch the first stagecoach to Dreamville. Come back as soon as you know."

"Will do boss." Ernest took the money and left the house.
