SEPTEMBER 13, 1860
Just as Buck reached the saloon he saw Steven going into the bordello. It shocked him, but he knew it had been years since Steven had lost Calys mom, so it was normal. After all Steven was raising Caly and Michael by himself.
Running over to the bordello Buck looked through the door till he spotted Steven. Taking a deep breath he walked in and went over to Steven who had just sat down and had pulled Elena into his lap.
Steven looked up and saw Buck coming towards him. With worry on his face, Steven said, "Hello Buck, something wrong?"
Buck nodded saying, "Well yes sir, its about Caly."
For Buck to have come in here, Steven knew it had to be serious. Patting Elena on the leg, "Honey why don't you leave us to talk for a minute."
Elena stood and walked over to the bar. She wasn't too happy at not making a large sum of money that she knew she could make from spending time with Steven. She had heard he was a wealthy rancher raising a shy little boy and a wild daughter that hung around the express station. She sat at the bar watching them talk and wishing that Buck would leave.
Buck fidgeted trying to figure out how to tell Steven what had happened. Finally he decided just to say it. "Its Caly, she got hurt on a run. It happened when her nightmares came back."
"Is she okay? I thought they were gone before she left home. She hadn't had one for a few weeks."
"A sounds triggered them last night. She just sprained her knee and ankle pretty bad. Other then being scared shes okay. Tyson took her back to the station."
Standing he was disappointed that he wouldnt get to spend time with Elena, but Caly was more important to him. Looking at Buck, "Don't tell Caly I was in here. Thank you for telling me." Then he hurried out and headed out to the station.
Knowing that Caly would be ok, Buck quickly left and headed back over to the barbershop. He smiled as he thought of his picnic with Corey. He still didn't know who he was going to choose. He was afraid to hurt either one of them. He sat back down and returned to his book while waiting for a customer.
