FEBRUARY 2, 1860

Steven was in town when Miss Blythe came out of the post office and said, "Mr. Johnson. I have a letter for you."

He smiled and said, "Thank you, Miss Blythe," and followed her into the post office. She handed him the letter and he said as he waved, "Thank you." And he left the post office.

He rode home and read the letter. As he entered the house. He saw Caly sitting in the parlor crocheting. He walked into the room, "Caly can I talk with you a minute?"

Looking up she answered, "Sure father . What is it?"

Sitting down next to her he said, "I just received a letter for my friend Thomas over in Sunrise Creek. She nodded.

Well, he would love for you to come for a visit sometime soon. And meet his son." Caly looked at him and said, "Tell me about him, but I am not going to go meet him."

He nodded and said, "Well, Thomas is about my age and very wealthy. He has a son a year older then you. I hear he is a very good looking young man. He has liked you for a long time. He has a large ranch and has some of the best cattle in this state. I used to work with him at the bank. He moved out here a year after you were born. He used to bring his son out to spend the summers with us. When you were little."

Caly smiled and nodded. He saw the strange look in her eyes and said, "Don't worry, I wont force you to do anything you don't want to do. She smiled and said, "Thank you father. I would love to meet them again." He nodded and kissed the top of her head and headed out to finish the days chores.
