AUGUST 30, 1861

Simon, Javier, Lilly, and Serena sat in the living room of the young Cromwell’s. “Well, I see no reason why you wouldn’t be able to square dance a round or two, Lilly. You could go for a little while. Just don’t overdo it.” Serena told Lilly after her check up.

There was a knock on the door and Javier let Kathleen and Richard walk in. “I bought you some supper Javier.” Kathleen said.

“Thanks, I’ll be right back. I’ll just go put it in the kitchen.” Javier returned immediately after putting the food away.

Serena came out of the living room. “Hi Kathleen, Richard.” Kathleen and Richard both told her hello.  “Javier, I’ll be leaving now. I’ll see you at the square dance.”

“Thanks, for stopping by Serena.” Richard opened the door for her.

“Is Lilly up to having any visitors?” Kathleen asked.

“Sure, she’s in the living room area. Serena just gave her a check up and she’s doing all right.”

“Kathleen, I’m so glad you came by. It’s been kinda lonely lately. Although, Caly and Charity have been by a few times, but no one else has stayed to chat.”

Kathleen smiled. She was glad to keep Lilly company. “I know we haven’t been close, but I’ve been worried about you and praying for you.”

“Thanks, it helps to know that I’m being prayed for.” Lilly said. The two girls sat and talked while the men folk talked in the study. Lilly was glad to find out that Kathleen and Richard were going to the square dance together and unbeknownst to the girls, the men had arranged for all of them to go together.
