MARCH 8, 1861

Lilly walked into the store and searched out Javier. They had a lot to talk about. She found him talking to his father. Oh perfect! She needed to talk to Simon, too. "Javier, Mr. Simon."

"Please Lilly, youre about to marry my son. You can call me Dad or Simon if you wish. You dont have to call me Mister anymore." Simon smiled.

Lilly smiled, this might work out after all. "I have a favor to ask of you, Dad."

Simon liked the sound of Lilly calling him Dad. "Sure, Lilly anything, what is it?"

"Well, Since I dont have a dad around, I was wondering if you would give me away at the wedding?" Lilly asked and held her breath.

This was tough. He would love to give Lilly away, but he had just promised Javier that he would be his best man. Then Javier stepped in and suggested, "You give her away and then come stand by me."

Simon smiled. His dilemma was over he could do both. "Lilly I would be honored to give you away."

Just then someone walked in the store. "Hello, may I help you?" Simon asked.

"I need a box of bullets."

"Got those right here for ya, mister."

"Thanks," Jake said as he walked up to the counter. "Im Jake Fresno, just got into town."

"Well, Mr. Fresno, this is my son, Javier, and my soon to be daughter-in-law, Lilly, and Im Simon Cromwell."

"Nice to meet you all." Jake said as he tipped his hat. He bought his bullets and left.

"Well, he seems nice." Javier said, and they all agreed.

"Oh, Bythe, would you be my Maid of Honor?" Lilly asked.

"Sure Id be glad to." Bythe said as she gave Lilly a hug.
