APRIL 5 , 1861
Samantha was cleaning the barn. She was thinking that she had to go find her brother. She hadn't heard from him in months, and Jacy was back now, so Justin should be here, too. But he wasn't. She was afraid that something terrible had happened to him. She just didn't know what to do with the livery stable. Maybe Mr. Simmons could help her out. She had talked with Desiree this morning, and she had asked her to ask Mr. Simmons if he got some time during the day to come and see her, and for Desiree to tell Mr. Simmons that it was important.
She was startled from her thoughts when Clover came in to the livery. "Hello Clover, want me to saddle a horse for you?"
"Yes, I was hoping to catch Noah at the station to see if he'll go the rodeo with me."
Samantha just shook her head and went about saddling Cabelero for her.
Clover paid and mounted up and headed for the station.
As Clover pulled up to the station she saw Noah and Ivy leaving the station. She felt her anger rise. She had to get Noah away from Ivy. She turned back to town and started to think up a plan.
Walter walked over to the stables just as Samantha was coming out of the barn with Arrowhead "Good afternoon, Samantha. Desiree said you wanted to see me."
"Yes, Mr. Simmons, I thought maybe you could help me. I need someone to look after the livery stable for a while. I really don't want to sell it, but I know some of the people in town need to rent the horses, so could you look after it for me while I'm away?"
"Where you going and how long will you be gone?"
"I don't know. I'm going to look for Justin. I'm not sure how long it will take for me to find him."
Meanwhile over at the boardwalk in front of the hotel, she was listening to Walter and Samantha's conversation. She jumped when she heard her name. "Jacy, whatcha doing?" Tally asked as he came up from behind her.
She motioned her head towards Walter and Samantha. "Samantha's leaving town, and she's asking Walter to look after the stables for her."
"What? No! No way, she's not leaving. You must have misunderstood." Tally didn't wait for a reply instead he walked over to Samantha and Walter. "What's going on?"
"Samantha's leaving, and she wants someone to look after the stables for her while she's gone. You want the job because I already have my hands full with the bank and the hotel? I don't need another establishment to look after at this time." Walter asked.

"Samantha, why are you leaving?" Tally didn't want her to go.
"I'm going to look for my brother. He should have been back here by now." Samantha answered.
"Hmmm . . . youre concerned about your brother. I can understand that, but I'm sure he's ok."
"He hasn't wrote to me since Christmas. I have to go find him."
Tally could tell that Samantha was very serious about leaving. "Samantha how about letting a professional track down your brother."
"A professional?" Samantha didn't know what Tally was talking about.
"Yes, I know a professional tracker that I can have track down your brother. Where was Justin when you last heard from him."
"Well, his last letter came from Cheyenne."
"Good, I'll send a letter right away to my tracker friend immediately. Don't worry, we'll find your brother. Ok? Just give me a some time to look first before you go, ok?" Tally hoped that she would agree.
"Alright, I'll give your tracker friend some time, but not too much time. If you don't find my brother in a month then I'm going to go look for him."
"Two months!" Tally cocked his head. "Two months, please."
"Alright two months, and then I'm leaving to find him if you haven't found him."
"Ok, it's settled. I'm going to go over and send my letter right away." Tally smiled at Samantha and started walking backwards. "We'll find him, don't you worry." Tally turned around and headed for the post office.
"I'm glad you're staying." Walter was pleased that they weren't going to loose the blacksmith and livery stable owner. He didn't know who would have watched the place for her while she was gone. He sure hoped that Tally would find her brother. Samantha nodded and then led her horse back into the barn.
