OCTOBER 30, 1861
Samantha left the livery stable and headed
down the street. Jedidiah rode into town and saw his gal walking down the street. As he
rode past her, he swung his horse around and then stopped in front of her. "And where
might you be heading this fine day, Miss Samantha?"
"I'm going over to the hotel for
lunch."
"May I join you?" He asked.
"I would like that." She smiled.
He swung down and walked with her to the hotel, and then he tied his horse to the hitching
post, and they went inside.
They were both surprised to see Thaddeus and
Joshua there. They went over and greeted them.
"So what are you two doing in
Dreamville?" Jedidiah inquired.
"Just passing through." Joshua
replied.
"How long you staying?"
"Not long, like I said we're just
passing through." he repeated.
"Alright, but if you need a little
spending money, just let me know."
"What do you have in mind?" Joshua
was curious.
"I need to hire a couple of fellas to
get me some turkeys. We're having a Thanksgiving feast at my place, and I don't have time
to go turkey hunting myself."
"How much you paying?" the light
brown haired cowboy asked.
"Eight dollars a turkey."
Thaddeus and Joshua discussed the issue
while having lunch and before leaving they accepted the job offer. They headed over to the
general store, but if Joshua or Thaddeus had turned around and looked across the street,
they might have seen a familiar face. For out of Grace's boutique the Davis' family came.
Jewel had purchased four dresses, one for
herself, one for her younger sibling, one for the little girl she wanted to adopt, and one
for her twin as well. They all gathered in the wagon and headed home. The four new dresses
wouldn't be worn until they had their day in court with Judge Wereton in order to adopt
Jaslyne. They all waved to Samantha as they passed the livery stable.
Meanwhile back at the Cromwell Mercantile,
Joshua and Thaddeus were selecting supplies in order to go turkey hunting. Simon had
everything they needed, and after purchasing their items, they went to the stables to get
their horses and then they went searching for turkeys.
