PRIMPING

FEBRUARY 10, 1860

Before heading to work Richard decided to head over to the bank and get some money out so he could buy a suit and get a cut and shave. Entering the bank he noticed that the bank was empty except for Walter and Ted. Smiling he waved to Walter and headed for the teller window.

Walking up to the window he said, "Hello Ted."

Ted smiled and said, " How may I help you. Mr. McDonald?"

Richard replied, "I would like to withdraw $30.00 from my account please."

Nodding Ted handed him the money and wrote it down in his book saying, "Here you go. You have a good day."

Smiling Richard said, "Thank you Ted, you have a good day, too." Taking the money he left the bank and headed over to the barbershop.

As he entered he was greeted by Mr. Sanders smiling he said, "Hello what may I do for you today?"

"I would like a hair cut and a shave, please," replied Richard. Nodding he lead Richard to the chair. Sitting down he listens as Luke chats away. After getting his cut and shave Richard pays .40 cents and says, "Good-bye and waves as he walks out and over to the dressmakers shop.

As he entered he said, "Hello Mrs. McGregor. Its a lovely day outside isn't it?"

"Yes it is lovely outside today. Hello, Mr. McDonald, how may I help you today?" She replied.

He said, "Well, I am looking for a suit for the dance. The only suit I have is the one I wore for my late wifes funeral.

Nodding she said, "They are right over here. Take your time. I'll be in the back room when you are ready." Richard nodded and started to look through the suits. After looking through them a couple of times. He finally decided on a black suit.

Taking the suit from the rack he said, "I have found one Mrs. McGregor."

Coming back into the room she said, "That is a good one. It will look great on you. That will be $6.00 please." Handing her the money he said, "Thank you. I hope to see you at the dance. You have a good day." He left the shop and headed back to the boarding house to put up his suit before he headed to work.
