JULY 4, 1860

Caller Bob came into the saloon and walked over to the bar. "Richard I have something for you. "He handed the confused bartender a gift card. Richard read it and smiled. Looking up at the mayor he said, "This should be fun. I hear that place is really nice. I know Steven spared no expense to help his children feel at home here. "

Caller Bob nodded and smiled, "Yes it is. Steven had done everything he could to help them. Its not easy for him to be a single parent of a young girl such as Caly. Michaels a sweet kid, too."

The two men laughed at the sight of Steven trying to handle Caly on a day she chose to be feisty.

"Well I better get moving. I have a lot more cards to deliver. Have fun." Caller Bob said as he headed for the door.

"I will thank you." Richard replied.

Richard had been out at the S & J Ranch for a few days, and he was disappointed that Caly and Michael werent there. But Lee and Jesse were a big help, and he knew that Caly was close by at the station if he needed her help with the Ranch.

Meeting Lee and Jesse at the house Richard told them he was heading into town to have supper with someone.

They both nodded that they would be okay. After hitching up the buckboard Richard headed over towards Kathleens home. He pulled up outside her place.

Kathleen had heard wagon wheels approaching her place, so she went to the door and greeted Richard with a smile.

Richard smiled and walked over to her, "Youre looking lovely today."

"Thank you Richard. What brings you out here today?"

"Well, I was hoping you would join me for supper in town."

"I would love to join you. I was hoping I would see you again."

Richard nodded as Kathleen locked up. Then he helped her into the buckboard, and after climbing aboard himself he headed into town to the Silver Spoon.

After helping her down and offering her his arm, he led her inside. Laura led them to their table, and they ordered. They sat there and got to know each other very well. They found out they both loved children.

They continued to talk as they ate. Richard paid the bill. Then escorted her back to the buckboard and helped her climb aboard once more. The ride back to her place was as pleasant as the ride going to town. After seeing her to the door and bidding her goodnight, he headed back to the ranch.

He got ready for bed, and as he crawled underneath the blankets, he felt a little strange sleeping in someone elses bed. But he knew him being here was for a good cause.
