Michael rode over to the station looking for Kid. He had a question for him. Riding into the station yard he saw Kid and Bythe over at the corral watching Katy.
Riding over Michael dismounted and said, "Kid can we talk a minute?"
Kid turned to Michael saying, "Sure what about Michael? I hope everything at home is okay."
Looking down at the ground Michael said, "Yes everythings fine at home. Its about girls."
Smiling Kid excused him and Michael from Blythes presence and led Michael over to the bunkhouse porch saying, "Come on kid. What do you want to know?"
They sat down on the porch and shyness took over Michael as he looked at his hands and said, "I want to do something special for Melissa, but I don't know what to do."
Kid thought about it for a minute then said, "How about putting something in the paper. It seems to have worked for Cody. Well, in the end it did." Kid smirked at all the trouble Cody had to endure first and Michael smiled at Kid as he thought the same thing.
"Thats a good idea Kid. Now I just have to find the right thing. Maybe a poem like Codys would work?"
"Just make sure you get your name published with it." Kid replied as him and Michael cracked another smile as they remembered Codys incident. After a few seconds Kid continued, "Cody had your teacher help him, so maybe she can help you, too. I even bet Caly would help you with it. I think shes a writer."
Just as Michael was about to reply Buck rode up to the bunkhouse and said, "Caly a writer, what do you mean Kid?"
Looking up Kid said, "Well, she had put a few ads in the paper and she has a notepad with her all the time. So I think she might be a writer."
Buck and Michael looked at Kid then Michael said, "She does have a special notepad she writes in. She has it with her lot of times. If its not with her its locked away in my fathers desk. I never thought about it much before now."
Buck leaned against the pole thinking while Kid and Michael sat on the bench thinking.
Looking at the two of them sitting there, Buck said, "I have come across her sitting in your higher pasture writing in a notepad. But every time I get near her she puts it away. I just thought it was her journal." Buck wondered what Caly wrote in that notepad of hers. Maybe he would ask her some time.
"Well, I better get home, thanks Kid."
Buck and Kid waved and Michael mounted Bear and rode home.
