THE BAKE/CRAFT/RAFFLE SALE! FEBRUARY 14, 1860 |
| Melissa
excused herself from Jimmy, Teaspoon and Dev telling them that she wanted to go look at
the items for sale. Her and Jimmy had already looked earlier but hadnt purchased
anything. Jimmy offered to accompany her, but she declined his offer. She had spotted something that she just had to get, but didnt want anybody to know about. She was on a mission. A plan she had concocted immediately after she had seen the object. She went over to one of Codys table. "How much for the bear and locket?" She asked as she fingered the stuff animal. "Its a special gift for someone special this Valentines day. I was thinking eight dollars." Cody saw her face drop as she realized she didnt have enough. "But for you how about six dollars?" Cody was being extra pleasant to Melissa, after all she is Jacys sister. The girl Cody has his heart set on winning. Melissa pulled out her money and started counting it. She knew she didnt have enough, but she did it anyway. It came to five dollars and eighty cents. She blew air out from her mouth and sighs. Cody knows shes is very disappointed. "This fella must really be special." He picked up the bear and handed it to her. "Did I say six dollars. I meant five dollars and eighty cents." Melissas face lit up and she handed Cody the money and took the bear with the gold locket. She walked off toward the buggy that Jimmy had brought them to the dance in. She hid it under a blanket in the back of the buggy. She would put her plan into action as soon as she got home. She was a little sad as she walked back to her date. She had no more money and she had wanted to buy a whistle, a certain whistle. The one she had told Michael to put his initials on that first day of school when she thought there might be a connection between the both of them. Unfortunately, after buying the bear she didnt have any money left, though she would have asked her sister for the money, but when she had purchased the bear she had noticed that the whistle was gone anyway. Melissa found Jimmy, and he escorted her to the dance. They walked into the corral and Melissa immediately pulled him onto the dance floor. |
