OCTOBER 7, 1860

The bell on the door of the dress shop jingled as Marta walked in. Nobody was in the front of the store, so she browsed until a lady appeared from the back.

"Hi, can I help you?" The woman asked. Marta smiled shyly.

"I need to get a costume for the Halloween party."

"Do you have any idea what you might like?" The lady asked.

"Well, I know the theme is Camelot, so I'd like to stay with the Medieval concept," Marta replied. "Maybe a fairy or a lady-in-waiting?"

"I have a few costumes ready made if you want to look at those, or I can make one specially for you."

Marta looked at the costumes that were already made, and found a fairy costume she liked. It was a white cotton fabric, with chiffon scarves of pale yellow, pink, blue, green, and lavender attached to the shoulders and skirt. A wreath of white flowers with ribbon streamers to match the scarves on the dress was included for a crown, along with wings to attach to the back of the dress. It was perfect.

"I love this," she said, looking in the mirror. It fit her perfectly. "I'll take it," she decided.
