FEBRUARY 26, 1860

The dance had brought Luke some extra business, and because of this he was able to get that gold pocket watch that he wanted from the general store. He also had enough money to get Meghan a present. As he walked around the store looking for something that might cheer up his friend, he saw a book of Sonnets by William Shakespeare. He knew that Meghan loved poetry, so he got her the book.

After he paid for the items, he turned around and bumped into Destiny. "Oh, Miss Jones, I'm so sorry. Here let me help you pick up your things." Luke helped Destiny put her things on the counter and waited around until after she paid for the items.

After Luke helped her pick up her things, Destiny said, "Can you please tell me about Green Valley? I heard about it from people passing through town."

Luke nodded, put his pocket watch in his pocket, tucked the book of poetry under his arm, and offered his arm to her saying, "I would love to tell you about it. It's in the most beautiful valley. There is lots of water and the fields are all green. And the houses are the most beautiful colors I have ever seen. They all have yards with grass. The buildings in town are at least 3 stories high."

Destiny nodded and said, "Thank you. It sounds so nice. I will have to go see it someday."

Luke smiled and said, "I think you'll like it."

Destiny nods, "Thank you for telling me about it. Im sure I will."

"Anytime. You're welcome." Luke replied, and went back to the barbershop, and Destiny headed home.

Luke walked into his barbershop and sat down in one of the chairs waiting for a customer. It was a slow day, of course it seemed like everyone in the town had gotten a hair cut last week. As he sat there, he started to read the book he had bought for Meghan. She was just a good friend of his, but this book was full of love poems. Maybe she could find a poem to write anonymously to a boy that she likes.
