FEBRUARY 23, 1860

As Lou stood there admiring a well-crafted music box, Simon said, "Move on boy. You don't have enough money for that."

Lou got mad and said, "How do you know if I do or don't?"

Simon looked at Lou from top to bottom and said, "Son just look at how you are dressed. Wearing clothes like that no one is going to take you for more then a poor person."

Turning red in the face Lou said, "Well, Mr. Cromwell, I have a good job working for the Pony Express. I can't believe you would judge someone by the way they dress." Then Lou stormed out of the store.

Simon just stood there with his mouth open. As Lou left Simon thought about what Lou had said. He whispered to himself, hes right. I will try harder not to do that again and, then he went back to tending to his store.
