JANUARY 31, 1860
Lou came riding into town. She saw Teaspoon sitting on the porch of the sheriff’s office whittling and decided that now was as good as time as any to talk to him. She rode over, dismounted and tied up her horse. She walked over to him and said, "Teaspoon, can I talk to you a minute?"
Looking up from his whittling he answered, "Sure Lou, what’s the problem?"
Sitting down next to him Lou looked out over the quite street and said, "Teaspoon is there anyway I can get more runs towards ST. Joe? I have a brother and sister in an orphanage about half way between here and St. Joe. I would like to visit them more."
Thinking a minute Teaspoon said, "I think we can do that for you. But you will still have to take some of the other runs out west."
Lou smiled, nodded and replied, "Thank you Teaspoon. They are all the family I have. I am trying to get enough money saved up, so I can get a place of my own. So I can get them out of there." Teaspoon nodded and went back to his whittling. Lou mounted up and rode back to the station feeling happy that she will get to see her brother and sister more often.
