AUGUST 19, 1860
Lilly finished wiping up her last table for the after lunch rush. It was time for her lunch break, so she informed Clover, and after eating her lunch in the kitchen, she walked out of the restaurant. She still had a little time before she had to go back to work.
As Lilly entered the post office she pulled out of her pocket an envelope. Inside the envelope was a letter. It was the first letter she had wrote since she had come to live in Dreamville. She had lived in an orphanage once, and her very best friend had been Sister Teresa. Thats who the letter was for. She wanted to let Sister Teresa know that she was doing well.
She wished she could send a letter to Mr. Whitmore. He was the kind gentleman that had helped her escape from her past life. But she was deathly afraid that if she sent him a letter that Marcus would find it and then he would find her. So she wasnt going to let that happen. Maybe someday when she was older and braver she would send Mr. Whitmore a letter, but for now the only person she could send a letter to would be Sister Teresa.
Lilly laid the letter on the counter and Blythe smiled at her. "Could you send this for me, please?" Lilly asked.
"Of course I can." Blythe had never seen Lilly in the post office before, but she knew her just the same because Lilly was dating Javier, and Javier had mentioned Lilly several times to Blythe. And Blythe had seen her in the general store many times. They hadnt been properly introduced yet though. "Im Blythe and you must be Lilly. Javier has told me all about you."
"Oh!" Lilly wondered what Javier had said about her. She still felt a little uneasy about dating Javier. She was afraid that if he ever found out about her past that he would hate her. Well, she just wouldnt ever let him find out about it. She vowed.
"Oh lots of nice things. He likes you very much." Blythe assured her.
Lilly smiled and then shyly directed her gaze away from Blythe. Finally she spoke again. "Well, I have to get back to the Silver Spoon. Good day . . . Blythe." She smiled again at Blythe and then left.
Walking through the store Lilly was disappointed that Javier wasnt there. Cody was helping someone and nodded at her as she was leaving. Javier must be out doing deliveries she thought as she walked back across the street.
