JUNE 24, 1861
Not meaning to Lilly overheard Charlie offer
Caly a job. Even though she didn't know Caly to well, they were friends. She smiled when
Caly took the job. She knew Caly was upset about not being able to see Buck by her absence
in town lately.
After Caly got started, Lilly slipped out
for a minute. She knew Charlie would understand, and Caly was doing pretty good.
Charlie watched his new employee and friend.
He saw Lilly slip out. He knew she would be right back.
Lilly quickly made her way over to the
store. "Javier, I need to talk to you."
Javier looked up as his wife called out to
him and made her way over to the counter. "Sure honey, what about?"
As she reached the counter she couldnt
hide the hint of mischief in her eyes. "I want to help Caly and Buck see each
other."
Looking around Javier was making sure his
father didn't overhear her. "I don't know Lil. Her father wants them to stay
apart."
"Oh Javier, if you saw Caly just now,
you would understand. She's miserable. Please." She pleaded with him to help her.
He knew he couldn't hold out on her.
"Alright. We can be a go between, but father can't know about it."
Lilly nodded. "Okay. Thank you."
She leaned over the counter and kissed him quickly. She had just turned to leave when the
bell over the door rang. A smile crossed her face when she saw Noah enter the store.
"Tell Buck, Caly is working at the
Silver Spoon if he wants to come see her." She said as she passed by him on her way
back to work.
Javier smiled as she watched his wife love the idea of getting the two young people together again.
