PRIMPING FEBRUARY 9, 1860 |
| Valentine's
Day was depressing for Lee. She wanted to go to the dance as herself, not as the boy she
was masquerading to be. But she couldn't afford to loose her job. Jimmy had asked one of
the kids in town to go with him to make her feel better. Jimmy had a soft spot for little
girls and hated to see them sad. So Jimmy would be having fun while she just stood there
selling the supper plates. Some of the other riders had gone to get haircuts, but since she didn't have a date, she decided not to get a new haircut. As she was getting her suit out to change before the others got home, she saw the dress that Rachel and the boys gave her for her birthday last month. Jimmy had taken her to Denver to see her sister. It just so happened that the town had a Dance that night and Jimmy and Lee had a great time at the dance. She smiled at the memories. She knew she better change before the others got back. |
