Since Kid and Lee were early returning from their ride, they decided to let the horses rest for a few minutes. They were close to the station, but thought that the horses could use the rest. As they were resting, Kid and Lee thought that they were alone and were talking freely. What they did not know was that Catherine was out riding and was near enough to hear them. It was a beautiful day and so she was just enjoying the scenery. She overheard the conversation that Kid and Lee were having.

"You know, Kid, sometimes I wish that it was Lynn that had taken this job, so I could go to school and act like a lady."

"But then you would not have met, us." Kid smiled.

Lee laughed. "True. But it's just times like the Valentine�s dance that I wish I could be myself just some of the time, without having to fear for my job."

"How long will Lynn be in school?"

"I don't know. She's studying to become a nurse. She's doing real good though, so maybe it will be just a couple of years then I can take my savings and become a vet." Lee said. As they turned around, they saw Catherine. Lee stood with her mouth open for a second. "How much did you hear?" She asked hoping that Catherine only heard that she wanted to be a vet.

"Enough," Catherine said.

"Please, you can't tell anyone. I'll get fired if Teaspoon found out I was a girl."

"It's none of my business. I have no reason to tell anybody anything." Catherine replied as she rode on.

After Catherine was out sight, Lee asked Kid, "Do you think she'll tell?"

"She just said she wouldn't."

"Yeah, that's what she said, but do we know if she is a woman of her word?"

"Well, we'll just have wait and see. We have no choice."

Lee just nodded as they headed back to the waystation.
