FEBRUARY 24, 1861
Lee was thinking about how Jimmy had found her and Ted. It was the day after Valentine’s Day. Her and Ted were in a cave half-naked because their clothes were drying. When Jimmy had gotten there, he told how Black was agitated and stomping around in his stall, and then when he saw that she was not in her bed, he came looking for her.
She didn’t know who he or the others were. Kid and Buck was with Jimmy while Lou, Cody, and Noah were searching to the east of town, and Ike and Teaspoon were searching to the North of town. For some reason though, she felt that she could trust Jimmy and whomever he was with.
She still didn’t remember how she had got the cut on her head that Meg had to stitch up. She was thankful to Meg for doing it even though Meg had just given birth.
Jimmy found Lee sitting at the pond. "You know we come here for some quiet time. Matter of fact, it was here that Teaspoon and Jesse found out that you were a girl."
"I still don’t understand why I would pretend to be a boy when I could get a job being myself in town."
"Well, it’s a long story." Jimmy had been reluctant to tell her about her twin. He had been sending the money to Lynn and would continue to do so until Lee remembered everything. He also had been reluctant to tell her everything about their relationship. He wanted her to remember on her own.
Lee started to cry. "Why can’t I remember?"
"Maybe you’re trying too hard."
"I want to know who I am."
"I know. Meg says that your memory should come back in a few days or so."
"It’s been weeks Jimmy, and I still don’t know who I am and how my head got cut."
"Well, maybe you’ll remember soon." Jimmy said hopefully. He hated to see the love of his life so depressed so he decided to tell her what he had come out here to tell her. "Rachel said that supper’s ready. Common let’s go eat." He suggested as he held out his hand for her.

Lee had wandered up to an extra bedroom in the station house and stood there staring at the bed. Rachel passed by and saw Lee standing there. "Is everything alright?"
"Why do I get the feeling that I’ve been in this room before?"
Rachel smiled, "Because you have."
Lee looked confused. "But everyone said, that I sleep out in the bunkhouse with the rest of the riders."
"Normally you do, but there have been times that you have slept in this room."
"Why?"
"Because you’ve had a visitor. And I’ve heard ya’ll staying up all night talking."
"Who is the visitor?"
"Her name is Lynnette."
Lee shook her head, the name meant nothing to her Swiss Cheese mind. "So I’d just come in here, and we’d talk all night?"
Rachel nodded. "Sisters usually do."
"I have a sister that I don’t even remember!" Lee was shocked and upset. She wanted to remember her sister.
"Don’t worry, Honey, everything will come back to you eventually. Why don’t you stay in here tonight? It might bring back some of those lost memories." Rachel smiled.
Lee nodded. Maybe just maybe she’d remember her sister if she slept in here tonight. It wouldn’t hurt.

As Lee laid in the bed, she tried to remember her sister, Jimmy, who everyone says that she loves, the boys, Rachel, Teaspoon, anything at all. And she could remember nothing.
No one had let her leave the station property so that her secret wouldn’t get out. She was beginning to wonder if these people had hit her over the head to make her stay for whatever reason. Then there was a knock on the door. Thinking it was Rachel, she said, "Come in."
Jimmy walked in, and Lee was in her nightgown, the covers up to her waist, but for some reason, it didn’t feel embarrassing to have Jimmy see her like this. It felt natural. "I just came in to see how you’re doing."
"Fine, I guess."
"You don’t look like you’re fine." He said as he sat down on the bed beside her.
"Well, I haven’t remembered anything if that’s what you mean."
Jimmy looked at Lee and saw how beautiful she was sitting there. How he wished this could be their room all to themselves, all the time, and not just when they snuck in here on rainy nights. "I’m sure you’ll remember soon, just give it time." He leaned over to kiss her on top of her head, but as he started to kiss her, she looked up, and he kissed her on the lips instead. They both deepened the kiss, and it was as passionate as their first kiss.
"I love you." Lee whispered.
Jimmy smiled. She was starting to remember, "I love you too, LeAnn." Then he started to get up, but Lee pulled him to her.
Then something clicked with Lee’s memory, "Jimmy, we’ve made love on this bed haven’t we?"
Jimmy nodded and tried to hold back a smile.
"I just remembered something didn’t I?"
Jimmy nodded again and couldn’t hold back his smile this time, and Lee embraced him and gave him another kiss. Her memory was coming back.

Rachel knew that Lee must have been remembering about her relationship with Jimmy because she heard them in the next room. So the next morning, she just knocked on the door and told Lee that it was time to get up.
Lee woke up to the knock on the door and found she was in Jimmy’s arms. How she wished it could be like this every morning. But with her job, and her situation, it just couldn’t be. She had to put Lynn through school. LYNN!!! Lynn was her twin!!!!!! She remembered her sister – her twin sister.
"Jimmy! I remember how I got the cut on my head now."
"How?"
"I went to meet you at Dead End Canyon, only Ted was there and not you. Then we were stampeded by a heard of wild horses, and they took Black with them. I went after Black and got him and the wild stallion. I was bringing the horses back here so that ya’ll could train them, but I was thinking about who could have set me and Ted up, because he thought I sent him a note, and I receive the same note. Anyway, the wild stallion charged Black, and I fell off and hit my head on a rock. No one hit me over the head!! I was so afraid that someone had hit me over the head!"
"Whoa there, slow down." Jimmy laughed as he tried to understand everything that Lee was saying. "What’s this about a note?"
"I had received a note to meet someone at Dead End Canyon, and it was signed by Cupid Caper. I thought it was you, but Ted was there. And Ted received the same type of letter. So somebody set us up!"
"I got one of those letters, too. I thought it was from you, but it told me to meet at Snake River. When I got there, Jacy was there, but she didn’t mention anything about meeting anyone, so I didn’t either."
"I wonder who would have done that."
"I don’t know."
"Jimmy we have to find out. My job could be in jeopardy. I mean Ted won’t tell anybody that I’m a girl, but the Cupid Caper, whoever they are, knows and could tell the company."
"Don’t worry we’ll find out who they are. And I’m sure that they won’t tell anybody that you are a girl."
